Description
Adorable two-bedroom, solar-powered cottage in Oak Creek Canyon, just steps away from a PRIVATE stretch of Oak Creek and 15 minutes drive from the town of Sedona. Well-behaved pets (furry family members) are welcome. 28+ night rental required. Internet service by satellite (25MB, limited data). Oak Creek Canyon Cottage is a 1960s bungalow located in lower Oak Creek Canyon, one mile south of Slide Rock State Park on highway 89A and 5 miles north of downtown Sedona. Because it is located in a lightly forested section of Oak Creek Canyon at 5000 feet in elevation, the cottage is a lovely, mild spot in which to spend the winter, and a shady, cool spot to beat the heat in the summer. Oak Creek itself is just across the street, so you can take a folding chair down to sit on the banks and enjoy the water, fish and birds. The cottage is furnished with a queen bed, a full XL (long) bed, and a full-sized futon in the living area, and decorated with eclectic art, featuring regional artists. Internet service is provided to the cottage by satellite; works for email, online shopping, & social media (but not fast enough for video streaming). There is a small, but fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a back deck where you can eat outside or hang out and watch the humming birds. Other amenities include laundry facilities and a new tub/shower, yard games, and a BBQ grill. The garden is filled with fragrant flowers in the spring and summer and offers a variety of fruit bearing trees in the fall. There is a hiking trail (Sterling Pass) just a quarter mile from the house, and many, many more hikes in the nearby area. This is a wonderful place to use as a base to explore all that Northern Arizona has to offer: it is 40 minutes to Flagstaff, 1 hour to Jerome, and 2 hours to the Grand Canyon, just to mention just a few of the fantastic destinations within easy driving distance. Note: Because of the house's location, there is some road noise during the day --- but it is very peaceful at night when the day visitors go home!
