Description

If you are looking for a peaceful holiday while enjoying the pleasures of an abundance of trees, vibrant flowers and stunning views, in a garden estate with all the comforts of a home along with ready access to countless nearby wineries, then you are on the right track. Please read further for details of this truly peaceful and tranquil property.
Il Paradiso in Terra is a stunning home that elegantly captures the feel of a serene and stately villa with its magical gardens, its idyllic swimming pool and its sweeping views of the Sonoma countryside, valleys and mountains.

Nestled among over 100 oak trees on a mountain road just below the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard and just above the Valley of the Moon celebrated by the area’s most famous resident, Jack London, the 3,052 square-foot home reflects the Italian taste with three gently flowing fountains and five outdoor seating areas -- a heated courtyard with fountain shaded by a beautiful Japanese maple tree, a large wooden deck shaded by trellised grape vines, a 1385-square-foot upper terrace with two seating areas and a dining table for eight persons overlooking the 50-foot infinity swimming pool and spa with a view of Mount Tamalpais in the distance, down a path through an olive grove to a circular stone seating area above a winter seasonal creek studded with majestic ferns and oak trees, and beyond a conifer garden a pagoda that affords stunning views of the Sonoma Valley and Mount Tamalpais, some 40 miles away near the San Francisco Bay and, if you care to stroll farther, a quiet reflective meditation garden.

Inside the light-filled home with tall ceilings are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master suite features a king bed below an arched ceiling that opens onto the terrace and adjoining deck. The bathroom displays a stunning quartz accent wall above a luxurious sunken jetted tub that is encased in white quartz. The two-sink vanity is topped with white quartz and gold faucet fixtures that create a beautiful Roman water flow. The shower contains a bench seat, a rain shower and a hand-held shower. Down the hallway is a guest bathroom with quartz accents and gold fixtures similar to the master bath and a second bedroom with a queen bed and a seating nook. A third bedroom is on a lower level with a king bed and an adjoining bathroom with a shower.
The main living area offers a blend of Old World elegance and modern-day comforts. An abundance of light illuminates a stunning collection of art work, especially in the foyer and living room with glass doors that open onto the terrace. The kitchen has a gas burner cooktop, double ovens, microwave and is well-stocked with all that any serious cook could hope for with its generous food-prep areas along with a pantry filled with some 33 herbs and spices that are there for guests to use in their cooking. The home also features a den with a fold-out table and a small office space with printer.

But Il Paradiso in Terra’s exterior is what is most unique. Imagine walking along pathways and through gardens, listening to your favorite music, enjoying a massage in one of the outdoor or indoor areas, or just reading a book in a pagoda overlooking the Sonoma Valley. Il Paradiso in Terra’s Sonos music system allows guests to do all of this with music in five zones in the home and around the property.

Between April and October, the flower gardens are ablaze with the vibrant colors of begonias, roses, camellias, hydrangeas, dahlias, fuchsias and lavender along with some 24 Japanese maple trees, an assortment of fruit and citrus trees, and over 122 oak trees. Every corner that one turns offers a surprise. And in the summer months, the produce of the vegetable gardens are at the disposal of guests with seasonal tomatoes, lettuces, zucchini, eggplants and more along with herbs that sound much like the lyrics of a well-known song -- parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme -- plus many more, also at the disposal of guests.

But the main outdoor attraction without a doubt is the 50x18-foot infinity-edge swimming pool with hot tub on the lower terrace along with ample sun loungers adjoining lush green lawns on both sides where guests gravitate on the many sunny days in Sonoma.

Within easy reach of Il Paradiso in Terra by car are the Sonoma Plaza (12 minutes), the charming hamlet of Glen Ellen (7 minutes), Jack London Park (11 minutes) and more than 100 wineries in the Sonoma Valley alone, not to mention the other 325 wineries within Sonoma County and the 450 wineries in adjoining Napa Valley (30 minutes).

A 20-minute walk up the road are beautiful 137-year-old vineyards atop the mountain with a 180-degree view extending from Santa Rosa to the San Francisco Bay.
