Description

Enveloped by verdant countryside in the beautiful Val d'Orcia and yet within easy access to the historic city of Siena, Villa Gino offers guests the perfect location to explore the many parts of Tuscany. The home is a stunning escape which can sleep ten guests and offers a landscaped garden with a private pool.   As you approach Villa Gino, you will pass through private farmland and a hectare of leafy grounds and find yourself in front of an impressive 17th-century farmhouse constructed with traditional red brick. In 2021, this historic building was lovingly and carefully renovated using the best possible materials and traditional techniques. Therefore while staying here, you can enjoy a harmonious blend of old and new with original features sitting side by side with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and coffee machines.   The living space is vast, meaning there is plenty of room for your party to come together for meals or drinks. The large living room has a sofa close to a fireplace and a sitting room next door where the kids can watch TV or play on the PlayStation. When it is time for dinner, you can cook in the well-equipped kitchen and dine in the formal dining room or al-fresco on the covered dining terrace.   Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, whilst on the first floor, there are two luxury suites with sitting areas, TVs, walk-in wardrobes and gorgeous bathrooms. One even has an inviting bathtub to enjoy a soak after a busy day. There is also another welcoming double bedroom. There is even a jacuzzi on the grounds with staggering views.   The home also boasts a vast landscaped garden which is the ideal place for dinner with a view or swimming in the private pool. You can get cosy around the outdoor fire pit or warm up in the jacuzzi in cooler months.    When you wish to get out and get to know Tuscany, the villa is well-suited for walking, hiking and cycling through the farmland. If you prefer shopping or trying delicious Tuscan food, the closest town is Buonconvento, a mere 6km away.    It would be a shame to visit this area and not spend a day in the beautiful medieval city of Siena. The city is 27km away, packed with art galleries, museums, shops, cafes and restaurants. If you are here during the summer, you can watch the Palio horse race, which takes place in the city streets and is followed by parties and festivities.

Offering breathtaking views over the rolling hills of Tuscany, Villa Gino is a rural idyll where you can truly unwind. Whether you wish to walk and cycle in the country landscape or cannot wait to discover the museums and eateries of nearby towns like Montalcino, there is plenty to do here for everyone.  The famous Via Francigena pilgrim trail is just 1km away from the house, and while religious pilgrims still use it, it is also widely used by walkers and hikers that use the pathways and signposted trails. If you prefer cycling to walking, you will be interested to know that every March, the Strade Bianche road cycling race passes through the village and can be watched by guests. Alternatively, you can hire bikes and explore the scenic routes for yourself. You can do lots to make the most of the rural surroundings, including hot air balloon rides or taking a day trip to the Petriolo hot springs, 30km away. In addition to picturesque natural beauty, Tuscany is also famed for its many pretty villages, hilltop towns and culture-rich cities. The closest town to the home Buonconvento, 6km away, is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. This small, red-brick medieval town is a wonderful place to visit. The town sits within the original 14th-century walls and boasts a medieval palazzo amongst its sights. Buonconvento is just one of many lovely towns and cities you can discover close to the house. Others include Montalcino, 20km away by car. Montalcino is a historic hilltop town which overlooks the Val d'Orcia and surrounding vineyards. Another option is Pienza, which is 32km away and known as Pope Pius II's birthplace and is a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage registered town. Siena is one of this area's main attractions and is only 27km away from the villa. Siena is easy to navigate on foot, but there is lots to see there, so booking a walking tour is a brilliant way of getting to know the city. Some of the highlights include the Palazzo Publico, the Gothic town hall, and Siena’s ornate cathedral, the Duomo di Siena. The city also has world-class art galleries, artisan shops and restaurants.
