Red River Canoe Trip

Two public canoe runs are currently being built on the Red River. One is located in the heart of the village, in the park of Canotiers, on the rue des Iles, right next to the bridge over the river. The other one is located about 1 km after the entrance of ZEC Maison de Pierre, by the rue des Méandres. From Méandres to Parc Canotiers, a circuit of 13 km river in calm water is offered.
We invite you to use the accesses to go canoeing or kayaking in family, in a natural and wild. Let yourself be carried by the current, or stop on one of the beautiful beaches to do a picnic.
Take notes, that in June, a friendly river descent (canoe) is organized every year by the municipality, usually on the 2nd Sunday of June.
Finally, we would like to highlight a significant natural element for the Red River region. The longest North American rapids, accessible by road, are upstream of the municipality. Called "21-mile Rapids", they are located between Lake Eagle and up to two kilometers inside the municipality. Well known white water rafting enthusiasts, they are an exceptional natural element on our territory, and probably contributed to the creation of the proposed protected water area of the Vallée-de-Haute-Rouge.
Hunting and fishing

Several lakes and rivers and a large area of forest are present in the territory of the municipality. Hunting and fishing are the main outdoor activities in our region. Many of these lakes are accessible via public access points. See the map of the municipality to see the lakes where boat tracks are named, and see where motor boats are prohibited.

In terms of hunting, the territory of the municipality is mostly composed of public land, so the area of free hunting is large. We invite you to consult the map to see where the public areas are.
In addition, the municipality is the gateway to protected wildlife areas, the Réserve faunique Rouge-Matai and ZEC Maison-de-Pierre.
These two territories give you access to hundreds of lakes and a filled playground forest.
