Description

The villa is part of the private cape of Fetovaia, a 20 hectares property in the south west coast of the island of Elba, after the coast of Tuscany. Guests of the villa will have unrestricted access to the park which features exclusive trails, solitary bays on both sides of the cape and hidden private terraces at sea level perfect for sunbathing. Air distance from sea is 70 meters and Fetovaia beach is at 150 meters walking distance from the villa.

As you access the gate of the property you will be surrounded by the Mediterranean vegetation and by the scents of pines and rosemary's, the villa sits uphill at the beginning of the Fetovaia Cape and can be reached by car through a private road that runs in the pine wood with view of the beach and ends on a roomy parking area near the villa. From the terrace you can enjoy the most privileged view of the beach, the bay of Fetovaia and the island of Montecristo.

The villa, built on the grounds of a fishermen house, has been newly refurbished in contemporary style with pastel colors and large living area built around the large & fully equipped terrace. Inside great attention has been paid to the quality of materials, to accomplish a charming balance between sobriety and exclusiveness. Sofas, kitchen, closets, tables and beds are all hand made using materials from the region (Siena chestnuts, Carrara marble, Florentine linen, etc).

During spring and summer guest can enjoy the large hot shower on the backyard of the terrace which becomes a perfect substitute to the shower in the bathroom.

From the villa a number of trails start leading to private bays and terraces at sea level where you can sunbath, swim and watch the sunset in total privacy. Families of sports lovers, hikers, divers, birdwatchers and fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of inspiration from this place.

In the park there are also the villas of my uncle and of my cousin. You will rarely see them as each villa has indipendent access to the sea, but if you do happen to meet them you will notice how much we all love this place although in different ways. In summer, the girlfriend of my uncle becomes a sort of professional swimmer and each day she circumnavigates the cape starting from the beach and finishing in the last bay on the other side of the cape. It is about a 2 hours and a half swim! On the contrary, my cousin who works hard all year long, when in Elba she likes to garden and photography. Expect to have your privacy fully respected and no noise around beside the sound of the waves.

Elba is the biggest, the most historic (place of first exile of Napoleon) and the closest island to the coast of Tuscany. Regular 45 min ferry trips connect Elba to the port of Piombino (near Livorno, in Maremma) all year long. You can board with your own car, motorcycle or bicycle or rent them at destination. Local public bus service also connect the port of Portoferraio to the rest of the island, including Fetovaia.
