Description

Khomba Beach House is a stunning private villa with its own exclusive beachfront.

Set in six acres of lush tropical garden, you'll be completely spoilt by an excellent chef, butler and housekeeper who are dedicated to your every need and exclusively for you.

Situated 2 1/2 hours’ drive North of Colombo’s airport on the West Coast, it’s the only house of it’s kind on a privately owned, pristine beach. Unlike the beaches in the South, the calm waters have no currents so children are perfectly safe.

Step of your own beach into a boat to go and see the stunning daily display from the dolphin super pods, go a little further and see the migrating whales, or return inshore and scuba or snorkel off the reef, or just go fishing!

Set 150 metres back from the water’s edge, Khomba is designed on an open plan basis with high ceilings, fans, polished floors and overhanging eaves in order to enjoy the cool ocean breeze while also bathing in the glorious temperate light.

Khomba House comprises two separate large double bedrooms, with their own en-suite facilities. Each of these bedrooms has a further daybed suitable for small children. Adjoining bedroom one is a separate sitting room with three further daybeds.

The main 80 sq metre verandah provides a fantastic area in which to relax and look out at the sea views.

Khomba boasts one of the finest chefs in Sri Lanka. A mouth watering range of local delicacies awaits you, with daily supplies of fresh lobster, prawns and the daily catch and the freshest of local vegetables from the garden. Depending on your tastes the chef will cook to order.

At the end of the garden is one of the most brilliant beaches in Sri Lanka. Completely private, very few other people (just the occasional fisherman) and you have your own private beach hut.

While Khomba is completely private, within a short walk you will have access to three neighbouring boutique hotels, all of which have swimming pools which they have kindly agreed our guests can use. In addition they have beach side bars and restaurants if you can rip yourself away from Khomba.

The area is largely undiscovered, which means there are no beach hawkers and you're encouraged to help pull in the fishermens nets.

Our team of gardeners have built a tropical paradise in the six acre harden. With an abundance of fruit trees, a coconut grove, teak plantation and a fresh water pond stuffed with Koi carp, its a paradise for the stunning local birdlife. Aside from the many tropical birds, flashing with colour, and the 1,000's of dolphins which put on a daily display, turtles are often spotted on the beach in the evening and migratory whales can be found a little further out following the continental shelf.

Khomba has four bicycles which can be used to visit the neighbouring resorts, who have kindly allowed us to use their facilities, or venture further afield to the local town.

Aside from numerous hammocks and chill out spaces the garden also has a full size badminton/volleyball pitch.

Kalpitiya has a growing reputation for wind and kite surfing during the low season on the lagoon. There are numerous local schools offering courses for beginners and experienced surfers alike.

If you are planning to include Khomba Beach HOuse as part of a longer tour of Sri Lanka, It falls on a route which would include Wiulpatu National Park, the cultural triangle and Kandy tea estates.

Khomba was selected as one of the best beach side properties in the world by Conde Nast Magazine.
