Description

A place of calm and natural beauty, just half an hour from one of the Loire Valley’s most beautiful towns, Château Les Cerfs offers tradition alongside great comfort surrounded by a glorious 110-hectare estate.

Offering great flexibility in terms of number of guests, Château Les Cerfs features a 11-bedroom Manoir with a swimming pool and tennis court, alongside two separate gîtes and dormitory found within the estate, a short stroll away.

Sleeping up to 21 guests, the Manoir has been sensitively restored in recent years to create a warm and welcoming home with great character as well as contemporary touches. The two living rooms showcase the Manoir’s heritage with antique furnishings alongside comfy sofas whilst the handsome dining room is fit for a feast by the roaring fire. By contrast, modern additions include the fully-equipped kitchen and a relaxing TV lounge under the eaves upstairs.

Ten lovely double bedrooms, all of individual size and character, feature box-spring beds, new mattresses and good-quality linen, as part of the most recent refurbishment, whilst most of the eight bath or shower rooms have also been upgraded.

For larger groups, there is the option to hire two gîtes for a further 22-24 guests, housed in a historic building around 500m from the Manoir. With more of a contemporary vibe, the 3 and 4-bedroom gîtes each feature lovely open-plan living, dining and kitchen spaces alongside pretty bedrooms and bathrooms. Finally, additional guests could also stay in a comfortable 2-bedroom dormitory with two sets of bunk-beds and a double, set alongside the gîtes and allowing this grand abode to sleep a total of 43 people.

With nothing but the sounds of nature around you, the Manoir’s grounds are a joy with an abundance of summer flowers alongside formal gardens, a private tennis court and of course the 14m long heated swimming pool. For cooler evenings, head inside yet another lounge, this one with sofas and a pool table in one of the Manoir’s annexes whilst the large reception room next door would make the perfect venue for a celebratory wedding feast.

Discover the 110-hectare estate with wonderful walks; find ponds rich in wildlife, ducks flying across the fields, woodland dense with ancient trees an even opportunities to fish or hunt.

Further afield, explore charming Farmer’s markets in nearby villages and spend time in one of the region’s most picturesque and historic towns, Blois, resting on the Loire River and home to one of France’s most important castles. There are many more famous Loire châteaux to admire from Château de Chambord to Château Royal d'Amboise. Try also to save some time to visit the wonderful city of Orléans.

Yet, with all the splendour of the Loire Valley around you, it will be hard to find anywhere more tranquil and relaxing than Château Les Cerfs and its glorious estate.

Surrounded by a sense of calm and tranquility, Château Les Cerfs is set in a vast 110 hectare estate in the Val de Loire, just 30 minutes south of the incredibly picturesque town of Blois.

As well as a tennis court on site, and of course the swimming pool, there are many incredible hikes through the estate’s woodland and fields as well as some fishing and even hunting during the winter. There are five large ponds teeming with ducks and wildlife.

There is a local village around 2km from the Manoir whilst the nearest boulangerie and a traditional French restaurant can be found in the next village, about 7km by car, as well as a weekly market on a Saturday morning and a supermarket just outside the village. There are many more atmospheric weekly markets across the area including villages and towns such as St. Viâtre, Romorantin-Lanthenay, Salbris, Lamotte-Beuvron and of course Blois.

On the banks of the Loire river, Blois is a beautiful town which has been classified as a 'Ville d'Art et Histoire'. As you stroll along its charming lanes, admiring historic buildings and churches, there are some wonderful views the higher you explore. In the very heart you will find the magnificent Château de Blois, once one of France’s most important castles which has been occupied by many kings since it was first constructed in the 13th century.

The region is home to other famous Loire valley castles including Château de Chambord and Château de Cheverny, also close to a well-regarded 18-hole golf course. Château de Chaumont also enjoys a picturesque setting, near the attractive village of Chaumont-sur-Loire, whilst Amboise and its incredible castle are around an hour away, also on the Loire river.

Orléans is another interesting day out with its historic buildings, vibrant markets, characterful places to eat and lovely riverside setting. Its 17th century cathedral is especially impressive, there are some lovely cafes and shops as well as walks along the river promenade. Art-lovers should visit the Museum of Fine Arts whilst the city is home to some good museums. If you have time, Parc Floral de la Source is a pleasant spot for a walk – it’s the source of the Loiret river and also home to a butterfly house, aviary and a some farm animals.
