Bring the little ones to Kids’ Pool with a waterslide to enjoy fun in the sun. Or come relax at the zero-entry pool. Adjacent to each pool, guests over the age of 16 can relax in the soothing comfort of oversized whirlpool spas.

Begin with a restful day of unwinding in the sparkling infinity-edge pool and enjoying a tempting libation at the swim-up bar. Once you’re refreshed and energized, take advantage of endless adventures on the water at Xel-Ha or explore the lush, tropical landscape at Chichén Itzá.

If the timing is right, you can release a baby sea turtle into the surf during nesting season. After that, treat yourself to a tropical souvenir at La Isla shopping plaza — mere steps from your resort — or simply find a lounge chair on the white-sand beach and soak up the sun. However you spend your time, take comfort in knowing you will be well cared for and leave longing to return.

Baby Sea Turtle Release

The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas is the perfect spot to witness a spectacular display of one of Mother Nature’s gifts.

During sea turtle nesting season, resort lifeguards patrol the beach each morning searching for the natural nests made by mother sea turtles the night before. When they are found, the lifeguards carefully remove the eggs and take them to a securely fenced area where the FUN Team cares for and watches over them. A sign documents the nest date, estimated hatching date and species of turtle.

The Mexican Caribbean is an important nesting area for green, loggerhead and hawksbill turtles. In fact, seven of the world’s eight species of sea turtles inhabit Mexican waters and lay their eggs on the nation’s beaches. Sea turtles can lay three times a year and average 100 eggs each time.

When they are ready to hatch, the baby turtles are helped out of their eggshells and loved until nightfall — the optimal time to release them. This is where you come in. Once the sun sets, you’ll be invited to take part in an experience of a lifetime by helping these tiny turtles make their way to the ocean’s edge.

Looking for something for the whole family? Grab the crew and sign up at the Activity Center for the 'Olympic Games,' family volleyball, and soccer at the beach. If there’s a smarty-pants in the group, be sure to show off your skills at FUN Music or Knowledge Trivia and win some great prizes.

Take a break from the sun and enjoy playing your favorite board games while making new friends in the Westin Kids Club. One of my favorite treatments is the Decongestant Massage, which elevates your spa experience by having healing essential oils and natural plant extracts applied in specific areas to release tension. And be sure to book a massage on the beach to float off into relaxation as you listen to the calming sounds of the surf. Reservations are recommended Spa Menu.

Iguana Feeding

The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort is home to rather unique guests. These visitors have comb-like spines, are primarily herbivores, and are excellent climbers. Have you figured it out yet? Cancún's year-round tropical climate is the perfect environment for Mexico's native black iguanas.

As you explore the resort, you'll see that our reptile friends are comfortable roaming the grounds and doing some exploring of their own. Twice a week, you'll have the opportunity to meet and feed a few of the friendlier iguanas like Drako and Moika. I like catching up with them at one of their favorite hangouts — Yamil Lu’um, or Scorpion’s Temple — an ancient Mayan ruin found right on property. And we have a perfect opportunity for you to return with that special something. Throughout the resort, we offer different activities like bracelet and piñata making. Not only that, you can learn how to transform towels into fun creatures like swans, monkeys or dolls. Or add a little color to your day and create a one-of-a-kind tie-dye collage.

Start your day off right with MOVE WELL — a class led by a Wellness Concierge who will show you exercises and offer helpful wellness information. Pick up the pace and join a Functional Training Class that focuses on strength and cardio training. Then hit the pool for an invigorating Aqua Aerobics class. The Stretching Class is wonderful after a day of fun and exploration to refresh body and mind. When you just need a break to relax and refocus, sign up for a Yoga Class.

Guests over the age of 12 can relax in the soothing comfort of oversized whirlpool spas adjacent to each pool. Laze the day away in the cooling comfort of the dramatic infinity-edge Main Pool. Bring the kids to enjoy the safe and shallow Kids’ Pool with a waterslide. And come to the adult-oriented Zero-entry Pool where you can enjoy breathtaking sea vistas from a different point of view.

Whether you walk, jog or run there’s something that’s just your speed. For the advanced runner, try RUNWestinSM and enjoy a 3- or 5-mile run on the beach. To see the beach at a slower pace, join a guided Beach Walk.

Sports enthusiasts will not be disappointed with the endless recreation at the resort. Challenge your friends, old and new, to a fun game of Beach Soccer (all ages welcome) or Beach Volleyball (for teens and adults). Practice your serve on the Tennis Court or dunk at the Basketball Court. Slow things down and try your hand at Croquet or a trick shot at the Pool Table. Or for something unique, jump in the pool and try a unique twist on a classic favorite with Water Ping Pong.

Most sports equipment is available at no charge. Boogie boards are available to rent for a small fee. Towel service is available at all pool areas.

Westin Family Kids Club

Looking for something exciting to entertain the kids and give them an opportunity to learn more about their environment and local culture? Supported by indoor and outdoor play areas and game room, Westin Family Kids Club offers a fun, camp-like experience for kids ages 4-12. Half-day, full-day and evening sessions offer a variety of action-packed activities like arts and crafts, group games and around-the-resort outings.

Safe and supervised by our trained, attentive staff, your children are well cared for while you enjoy a little entertainment of your own. Plus, take advantage of Parent’s Night Out and enjoy a relaxing evening, while the kids head to a themed party, including food, activities and plenty of fun. Kids under the age of 4 are also welcome when accompanied by an adult.
