Description

Stay at Villa Calix on the south coast of Mykonos, located in the Aegean Sea. This newly built villa for 2022 is a Smart House, allowing you to control the air conditioning and lighting from a touchscreen. The two-storey detached property is situated on a four thousand square metre plot, enclosed by a natural stone wall, featuring a paved terrace, private infinity swimming pool, ancient olive trees, and flowering shrubs.

Villa Calix includes three spacious en suite double bedrooms, accommodating up to six guests, making it ideal for a family or friends' holiday. For security and privacy, there is an overnight security guard from 11pm to 7am daily, CCTV cameras, safety boxes in each bedroom, and an alarm system. The 310-square-metre villa offers private parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, and air conditioning throughout. The exterior features classic Cycladic white-washed walls and local stone, with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that bring in natural light and sea breezes.

On the ground floor, the villa offers a spacious open-plan living area. The entrance hall with traditional Cycladic arches leads to a seating area with floor-to-ceiling doors opening onto the pool terrace. The living area includes an L-shaped grey sofa, wooden coffee and side tables, handcrafted pouffes, and a flat-screen television. The adjacent dining area features a long wooden ten-seater table for indoor entertaining. The all-white kitchen is fully equipped with Smeg appliances, including a family-size fridge freezer, built-in oven and hob, a breakfast bar, and a coffee maker. The first of three double en suite bedrooms is on the ground floor, with a queen-sized bed, mini-fridge, smart television, safe box, ceiling fan, and sea views. This bedroom has an ensuite shower room with direct access to the pool terrace, suitable for guests with mobility issues. A guest cloakroom completes the ground floor. Upstairs, there are two bedroom suites, each with a lounge area, open-plan bathrooms with rainfall showers, and access to a small sea-view balcony.

The terrace offers stunning sea views, a water feature, and an 80-square-metre step-entry infinity swimming pool. The pool area is furnished with grey sun loungers and large orange umbrellas, positioned for optimal sea views. There is also a poolside shower. Guests can enjoy cocktails on the terrace at sunset and dine alfresco at the eight-seater table.

Villa Calix is located on the southwest coast of fashionable Mykonos, part of the Cyclades islands in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just four kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators.

If you are island hopping, then nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports. The new port of Mykonos is a hub of activity for those landing and departing from island hopping ferries, or super yachts cruising the Aegean, and is a quick twenty-minute drive to the villa.

The villa is situated only slightly inland, with stunning sea views overlooking the sandy beach of Platis Gialos. The village of Ornos is to the north and has two beaches, streets lined with traditional tavernas, and a harbour with boats that can take you to local beaches and nearby Delos. Villa Calix is near the village of Psarou, with a white sandy beach, and local shops for your holiday provisions. Nearby is Korfos for kitesurfing, and the fabulous uber-trendy Buddha Beach Bar for some serious fun in the sun. Treat yourself to a luxury treatment at Santa Maria’s Ginkgo Spa. To the south is Elia and Agrari beaches, offering a selection of water sports, a children’s playground, cafes and bars, and calm sea waters.

The coastline is populated by many beautiful golden sandy beaches, take your pick from the nudist Elia beach to the family-friendly favourite of Agios Ioannis, or party, party, party all day long on Super Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs. During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture. Pay a visit to Mykonos old town, known locally as Chora, only four kilometres from the villa. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses, and do some serious designer-label shopping in one of the many luxury boutiques. Book a table at a seafront restaurant and enjoy a dish of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo and watching the beautiful people pass by.

Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, then go out of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, known as Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where original merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed at sunset with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history. No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea, or charter your own yacht and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon.

The quiet inland village of Ano Mera is eight kilometres from the villa, home to the restored sixteenth-century monastery of Panagia Tourliani, with a beautiful bell tower, marble fountain, and original icons. Walk the cobbled streets, and stop for a coffee and pastry at one of its outdoor cafes. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour. And of course, you can always go island hopping from the new port of Mykonos, the Aegean is your oyster.
