This spacious house, set in magnificent surroundings, offers a group of friends or family the perfect, secluded getaway in Languedoc Roussillon, just 5km to the north-east of the historic Catalan town of Céret. Set at the foot of the Hermitage St Ferreol, in the foothills of the Pyrénées, the house sits high above Céret and enjoys sweeping views down the valley and up over the mountain tops. The location is simply stunning.
The house is perfect for groups of between 10 and 15 people. Five bedrooms on the first floor sleep 10 people (3 doubles and 2 twins). There is a further double bedroom on the ground floor and a triple on the third floor. There are four full shower rooms with WC and sink: three on the first floor, one on the ground floor. Some of the bedrooms open directly onto terraces and have wonderful views.
The Kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, with everything you’d expect…and a bit more! In addition to the 5-burner stove, oven and microwave, there are two dishwashers and a washing machine and dryer in the adjoining utility room. There is a large dining table in the kitchen, and another in the Living Room. Outside, there is seating for the whole crowd on the patio, whose commanding, south-facing views will hold you spellbound.
The enormous Living Room has space enough for everyone, and has a large flat panel TV, sofas and armchairs aplenty and still has room left over for a large palm tree which reaches towards the conservatory skylight above it! One wall of the Living Room is taken up by windows which enjoy the same view as the patio outside.
The house is perfect for a group of cyclists or walkers, who will find the local walks some of the most beautiful – if demanding – they’ve ever had the pleasure of exploring.
The 13th century Ermitage St Ferreol, just a few minutes’ walk away, was built in honour of the local patron saint; it now often plays host to musical events and special services so be sure to check what’s on. A short drive down the mountain will take you to the many wonderful bars and restaurants of Céret, not to mention its famous modern art museum. There are many other local delights to enjoy during your stay; we’ll be happy to give you advice on what to do, see and eat while you’re here!
