Description

A beautifully restored villa looking out over Tivat Bay, Villa Obosnik is a great base for exploring the Bay of Kotor area. Formerly an olive mill and accompanying miller's cottage, the property now provides luxurious accommodation for up to fourteen guests and enjoys the addition of a private outdoor pool and terrace.

The 8m x 4m pool acts as the centrepiece of the villa, surrounded by a spacious terrace with dining areas, a bar and barbecue, and plenty of sun loungers. The pretty gardens also feature a gazebo, offering a shaded seating area, and a games area with table tennis and darts.

The accommodation inside offers flexibility, split across the two separate buildings. In the main house, you have a large living space with a comfy sitting room with satellite television and DVD, and an attractive dining area with seating for twelve. The kitchen comes equipped with everything from a coffee machine and ice cream maker to a dishwasher and American-style fridge freezer.

Four of the bedrooms are in the main house, with the remaining two in the cottage, along with a sitting room and small kitchen. All bedrooms are en-suite, with a balcony or terrace. There are three doubles and three twins, and each has air-conditioning and/or a fan to keep you cool at night.

The villa has secure parking for five cars, as well as free Wi-Fi. It's only a five-minute drive to the beach and local shops, and conveniently located a few minutes from Tivat Airport.

There are all sorts of options for getting out and about in Montenegro. The fortified Old Town in Kotor is a great place to start, impressively well preserved and offering stunning views of the mountains and bay. A little further, the Lovcen National Park is the place to get lost in nature, while the coast's countless beautiful beaches are sure to tempt you too – drive down to Budva to experience the country's most-visited coastal resort.

Oliver's Insight...
The town of Tivat on the Bay of Kotor is one of Montenegro's upscale playgrounds – visit the marina to see its glamorous side and marvel at the yachts (and super-yachts). The town's Big City Park provides a green oasis where you can relax, while the pretty village of Gornja Lastva is a favourite with visitors.

The fortified old town of Kotor sits on the River Skurda around 11km from Tivat. It is certainly a must-see, with stunning views over the mountains and bay which shares its name. Plenty of notable sights can be found around its streets and squares, including St Tryphon's Cathedral. The town is also known for its street cats, so the presence of a cute little Cat Museum is with good reason.
Kotor is a lovely place to wander, with charming cafes, restaurants and shops. You can also climb the Old Town walls or canyon down the Skurda if you are feeling particularly energetic.

Down the coast, you have lively destinations like Budva, which provides more nightlife and some seriously popular beaches, as well as a charming Old Town of its own. Head inland, and you'll find many more attractions – Lipa Cave and the magnificent Lovcen National Park among them.

If you fancy a trip to the capital, Podgorica is a little under two hours' drive from Tivat but has plenty to recommend it, including a huge vineyard and winery, and the beautiful Cijevna waterfalls. Its shopping is also the best in the country, so if you're into malls, do what the locals do – make the trip to Podgorica.
