With 10 double bedrooms and a private swimming pool, this is the perfect location to lose yourself in the wine and tranquillity this property has to offer.
Read under the sun loungers and parasols that sit next to the swimming pool or discover the joys of the grounds.

For golf lovers there are many excellent courses nearby.
There is ample to do in the local countryside, with many vineyards and quaint villages to discover.
Within striking distance you can visit Lyon and Vichy, as well as one of French’s top 3 restaurants.

Once owned by King Francis I, the rear and side entrances to this property date back to 1530.

Chateau Interior (sleeps 12)
Combining classical French style with modern comfort, the chateau features original decor - high ceilings, painted marble walls and mosaic floors. Not to mention antique fireplaces and old, sweeping, sandstone staircases leading to the cellar and first floor rooms. In addition to the typically French main house, you will have access to three horse stables, a small tower and an old farmstead, as well as exclusive access to the heated swimming pool.
On the ground floor the chateau features a large dining room with an old French table and enough comfortable seating for 12 people. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and even includes dishwasher and espresso machine, one oven, Magimix food processor and extensive first class, professional SIGG cookware.
In the culinary heart of France, situated in the regions of Bourgogne, Auvergne and Lyonnais, the chateau is perfect for those looking to take advantage of the wonderful local produce but we are also happy to help organise catering if you prefer.
Bright sunlight pouring through high windows is a feature of the stylish sitting room, alongside authentic parquet floor, original fireplace and ornamented mirror helping to create a romantic, classic chateau experience. The chateau is fully equipped with all modern amenities, including stereo CD player, Satellite TV with English channels, WIFI internet access.
The first floor has 5 twin bedrooms, with cabinets, closets and running water (both hot and cold), and also 2 new bathrooms. These bathrooms are furnished with luxurious designer loos from the Philipe Starck X-line, Dornbracht taps and include rain showers. The 6th twin bedroom is situated on the main floor with adjoining bathroom and WC. You will find an additional toilet on the main floor. The rooms are all individually decorated to have their own character and appeal to different tastes with most containing marble fireplaces. All bedrooms have twin beds that can be pushed together to form doubles.
Maison Interior (sleeps 8)
The Maison is attached to the main part of the chateau and consists of 4 additional bedrooms with twin beds, sleeping a total 8 guests. The luxurious family bathroom features a spacious shower and a large bathtub. There are also three separate toilets. The house is equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, Satellite TV with English channels, stereo, CD player and Wi-fi.
Outside Grounds
Outside is the fenced private heated swimming pool, with a safety fence/gate and cover (which retains the pool's temperature), benefiting from sun loungers, parasols and a large, roofed terrace along one side perfect for enjoying lunch on a hot day, and for BBQs in the summer evenings.
The heated pool means swimming is possible from early spring to late autumn.
Perfectly located in 20 acres of woodland, the chateau offers fantastic opportunities to lose yourself, read or sample the wonderful local wine.

Nearby to Auvergne and Saone et Loire (southern Burgundy), the village of La Pacaudière lies in the Loire region of the northern Rhone-Alpes. The chateau is perfectly situated just outside this village of La Pacaudière, in beautiful, classic French countryside with many other smaller, medieval villages to be found along the winding country lanes.
La Pacaudière has a beautiful little church, and also includes a bank (with ATM). There is a well equipped supermarket, two boulangeries, a kiosk, two cafes, a butcher and a pharmacy.
The chateau is a country dwelling in an area renowned for clean air, while city life is within a stone’s throw - Lyon, Roanne, Vichy, St. Etienne, Clermont Ferrand – all are ideal for walking, cycling, golf, and for those with a culinary passion. Excellent facilities for snowboarding and Nordic/Alpine skiing make the chateau equally appealing in the winter time.
The nearest major town is Roanne with good shops, train station, hospital, theatres and museums. Although most famous from a culinary perspective for the celebrated restaurant Troisgras (holding 3 Michelin stars for 40+ years), there are also a variety of other attractive restaurants in the vicinity.
Considered one of France’s best kept secrets (despite being its second largest city!) Lyon is only 1.5 hours away by car. Offering much of historical interest, from art and culture, architecture, culinary, antiques and shops, this splendid city also has a TGV railway station and international airport.
Wine lovers will not be disappointed by what the chateau has to offer. The little known but fantastic vineyards of Rhone-Côte Roannais are just a few miles away. The red and rose wines have their own Appallation Controlée, made from the Gamay grapes, called Saint Romain. The better known Beaujolais is only 1 hours drive away. Producing all kinds of wines (from beautiful Cru’s to the Beaujolais Primeur) these are traditionally presented in the third week of November. If that’s not enough, the burgundy wine region – famous and loved the world over - is situated nearby. Pleasant memories will be made by a “route de vins” through the Bourgogne vineyards. A visit to Beaune is also extremely worthwhile.
Just 10 miles from the chateau is the marvellous 18-hole course of Céron, and 20 miles away is the 9 holes of Villerest. La Loge des Gardes – only 20 miles from the chateau – is the ideal location for alpine skiing and snowboarding. Situated on the top of the Montagne Bourbonnaise, it has a blue, a green and 2 red pistes. A little further afield is Chalmazel. You will also find a tennis court 5 minutes walk from the chateau on the campsite of La Pacaudière.
