The Unique Benefits At This Cottage
Imagine the haunting call of the loon, its ecstatic mating song, or a mother with two chicks on its back; a sudden sighting of a mother Merganzer duck with her twelve to fourteen offspring in tow and father bringing up the rear; a beaver appearing and flapping his tail at you with a large spray of water, as if to say, "these are my waters!;" a trout or bass jumping for flies; the swoosh of a surprised seven-foot wing spanned Blue Heron taking off ten feet over your head; the foot-long Piliated Woodpecker making sure the forest is strong; deer nesting at your door; the elusive Red Fox, or the ghostly Albino Fox appearing as an apparition at the end of your driveway; every kind of bird at your balcony, but dominantly Bluejays, Cardinals, Woodpeckers and Yellow Finches (unless you are a real 'birder' and know how to attract the elusive kind); 100 miles of pristine shoreline; breathtaking sunrises directly in front of the property; sunsets that last with a glow on the horizon until midnight in June and July; a majestic moon rising at the same time in the east; so many stars in the August and September night sky that your head will spin; the unbelievable array of fall colours; the silent beauty of winter; the burgeoning of boundless spring!

Don't expect it all at once. Nature doesn't work that way. It reveals itself to the patient, quiet observer. That is why we encourage longer stays. And what it does to you will change you forever! Aha!

All of this happens within a sophisticated network of modern life. There are endless possibilities for sport, activity and quiet reflection in this setting. It is one of the best places in the world to be!
The property has many flat recreational areas. It is tiered with good stairs for easy access to the 60â??entertaining dock (good dock furniture) at the water. The lake bottom is hard granular sand with a gradual water entry to a depth of 6' at the end of the dock. As much of this Algonquin-like property and shoreline as possible is left in its natural state to attract the many sightings of all non-threatening birds, fish, waterfowl and wildlife. The old-growth forest of maple, evergreen, birch, cedar, beech and hemlock is groomed to allow for privacy and ample visual interaction with the dock, property and lake from the cottage.

Why the Owner Chose Dwight

The Muskoka Region of Ontario is the largest concentration of fresh water lakes in the world. Lake of Bays is one of the four largest amongst hundreds of others, and of primiere quality. Its only watershed (water draining into it) is the protected waters of Algonquin Park, considered worldwide as unique in its kind. This makes Lake of Bays water very clean. Abundant natural springs also feed the water supply. It is higher in the Canadian Shield, which makes it deeper. Objectively, it is considered one of the best inland, freshwater lakes in the world and well worth a visit and extended time to explore it and let it nurture you, which it does without fail.

All of this rugged, untouched beauty is supported by an extraordinarily sophisticated modern network of towns (Dwight, Dorset, Baysville, Huntsville), resorts (Deerhurst, Grandview) and sport venues (golf at Bigwin). Modulation Furnace, Air Conditioner, Full Power Generator
