Description

Chalet du Pre Fleurie is an elegant and homely lodge near Chatelon the French-Swiss border. Sitting just above the village in a serene wooded location, this four-bedroom-house is the perfect place to stay for your skiing holiday offering the ideal mix of adventure and relaxation.

The area is well-known for having amazing sunlight late into the day which you are able to enjoy from the balcony and your own outdoor hot tub after a busy day on the slopes. Even from inside the house, you can experience views of the surrounding trees and mountains from every window. The stunning vistas blend seamlessly with the alpine-style interiors of the chalet, creating a relaxing and natural feeling environment for your stay.

Situated just below the beautiful chalet is the village of Chatel which is accessible by a free shuttle bus if you don't feel like walking down. Chatel is a great central hub from which you can access the surrounding ski resorts which make up the Portes du Soleil circuit. There are 12 resorts in the circuit, dotted around the hills of Switzerland and France, offering a huge 286 slopes for you to try out.

If you feel like staying local to Chatel itself then you will have plenty to do to fill your time. Obviously skiing is the main attraction in the area, and everybody is catered for, from experts to those with limited mobility and there are even ski schools which specialise in teaching children. Beginners should try out the slopes of Super-Chatel which you can access by ski-lift from near to the chalet; this area has great resources with snow parks and ski schools available. If you are a confident skier, you could head out to the Linga sector which has some more challenging slopes on offer, you could also hire a local guide to show you some of the great off-piste skiing available in the Linga area if you are feeling adventurous.
The chalet is right next door to Chalet la Chaux, so if you are travelling in a large group the two chalets could accommodate all of your party.
For a break from skiing, you can head into the village which has plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars for you to unwind in. Here you could try regional cuisines, shop for souvenirs or just stock up on groceries for your evening meal. There is also a bowling alley and a cinema in the village if you want to spend a few evenings out there.

For larger parties it is possible to rent sister propertyChalet La Chaux(sleeps 10) virtually next door - please follow the link for more information.

The village may have a traditional feel, but there are still plenty of bars here to head to after your meal so that you can unwind after a busy day.

Chatel is a brilliant base for a ski holiday; slopes and facilities to suit all needs can be accessed from the village via a number of lifts. For the seasoned skier, you could head to the steep, wooded slopes of Chavanette or go off-piste with a guide in the challenging Linga area. For those just starting out, head to the quieter slopes in La Chapelle and Super-Chatel where you will find more gentle pistes and lessons for beginners.

If you want to head out for the day to see more of the surrounding area, then Lake Geneva is a beautiful place to visit and you can easily spend the whole day there. After a drive of 45 minutes, you will find yourself on the border between France and Switzerland at the shore of Western-Europe's largest lake. A lovely town to stop at is Montreux which a Swiss lake resort and is famous for its annual jazz festival. If Jazz is not your thing, you could take in the scenery on a boat trip before eating dinner in a cosy lakeside restaurant.
