Description

A wonderful place for self-quarantine. Enjoy a beautiful beach with plenty of "social distance".

This beautiful Bayside Beach Villa is right on Tambor Beach in Bahía Ballena (Whale Bay, located within the gated community of Los Delfines in Tambor, Costa Rica. The home is one of a kind in this gated community as it sits at the edge of a park, thus having more privacy than the rest of the development. (I especially like to hear and watch the howler monkeys in the trees in the park 25 ft from the front door. The other morning, I saw over 20 in those trees, some with babies hanging on to moms.)

When I first walked into the house I was blown away by the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the whole front of the house with an incredible view of a beach paradise. (I swear, it looks like a picture postcard, complete with palm trees, broad sandy beach, and beautiful blue ocean. I'm pretty sure the gods photoshopped that view!)

The downstairs has an open floor plan with a large dining/living area and a custom kitchen with teak wood cabinets and new appliances. The extended living room has a semi-private queen size day bed with its own full bathroom. The two sliding doors open to a patio with two tables with chairs and a new bamboo palapa roof which, along with the surrounding palm trees, creates a perfect covered outdoor space. There's also a gas grill for cooking outside and a large hammock waiting for you to lay down and read a book or take a nap.

Up the staircase are the three bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom and again with the floor to ceiling windows! The master suite has a king-sized bed, a large bathroom with ocean views from the shower, and a large balcony along two sides of the bedroom overlooking that fantastic view with many fans. (I love to sit on the balcony in the early mornings in the cool breeze, watch the scarlet macaws swoop by in pairs and just marvel at the view. I also love sleeping at night with the doors open listening to the ocean waves.) The other two en suite bedrooms also have a wall of floor to ceiling glass.

This villa sits on an expansive, 4-mile beach with nice soft black sand...easy to walk on, and a very gradual slope to the beach. (I counted them today...it's 75 steps to the water at high tide; 240 steps at low tide). It's not a great surfing beach since it's in a bay, but it's a fantastic swimming beach. However, the previous owner says she could surf here sometimes. For your enjoyment, there are 2 surfboards and 3 boogie-boards. Oh yes, and there's a nice pool just about 25 steps from the patio that we share with only eight other houses. (My new early morning routine is to run on the beach, cool off in the ocean, have a dunk in the pool, and then eat breakfast on the balcony. Did I mention the incredible view?)

There are lots of places to go and things to do in the area. Within Los Delfines, there is a beautiful 9 hole golf course, a larger pool at the clubhouse, tennis courts for tennis and pickleball, and horseshoes on the beach. Or how about a boat tour to Tortuga Island to see the turtles, a visit to the Curú Wildlife Refuge, horseback riding on the beach from Montezuma to El Chorro, hiking to local waterfalls and swimming in their pools, fishing with local fishermen, take an ATV tour in the area jungles, snorkeling or scuba diving, experiencing a Montezuma canopy tour walking over a waterfall, going on a night kayak tour to see the bioluminescence, or exploring the well-known surf towns of Montezuma and Santa Teresa for some great restaurants, shopping, surfing, and fun nightlife? And when you're done with the adventures and hustle and bustle, come home to the relaxing peace and quiet of your Tambor beach getaway. (I'm sure it can get busier, especially during Easter Week, but I've never seen more than 10 people on the whole 4-mile long beach at one time. More often than not, I'm the only one on the beach. It's like I have my own personal beach and bay!)

There’s a well-stocked convenience store at the clubhouse, a (slightly) bigger store in the town of Tambor just down the road, or a couple of bigger grocery store about 20 minutes to the east in Paquera and 25 minutes west in Cóbano. If you don't want to cook, you can take a short stroll to the welcoming restaurant and bar at the clubhouse with great food and very friendly owners. There are many incredible restaurants in the area as well.

Only about 3 hrs from San José, depending on traffic, across a ferry, or a 30-minute ride in a small prop plane to the beachside Tambor airport only 5 minutes away. Come make yourself at home at a true tropical paradise! (Can you tell I'm in love with this house?...and the views!! I must be dreaming.)
