Waldferienpark Gerolstein is a combined bungalow park / campsite in Hinterhausen, beautifully situated in the green hills of the Volcanic Eifel region at 5.3 km from the town of Gerolstein. The area is characterised by caves, reservoir lakes, old mines, fortresses and castles. The options for cycling and walking are endless in the immediate vicinity of this attractive holiday resort. An ideal base for a wonderful holiday and for exploring the versatile Eifel region. The bungalow park is run by Dutch owners and the friendly atmosphere makes it perfect for families and those looking for a peaceful holiday. Children will love the low-traffic grounds, where they can enjoy themselves in the playground, the petting zoo, with mini golf or in the indoor swimming pool. The restaurant offers regional dishes as well as some Dutch specialities, and drinks and snacks are available at the bar as well. If you don't fancy cooking, you can also get a take-away meal from the restaurant. The town of Gerolstein is known for the mineral water with the same name, which is bottled here and exported. It has some interesting shops, you can drink the fresh mineral water from the Helenenquelle well in the park, or go for a swim in the indoor or outdoor swimming pool. During the winter months, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the lovely Christmas market in town! The region is great for both active and cultural day trips. Visit the prehistoric Buchenloch cave (7 km), go fly fishing at the river Kyll (16 km) or go swimming in the Kronenburger See reservoir lake (32 km). A little further away, you'll find plenty of culture in the historic city of Trier (67 km), which is the oldest city in Germany. Or visit the enchanting Burcht Eltz (70 km) in the magnificent Eltzer forest. Roller coaster enthusiasts will love the spectacular Phantasialand amusement park (80 km). With no less than seven roller coasters, this theme park is one of the largest in Europe. There are plenty of attractions for younger kids, too. Waldferienpark Gerolstein consists of a campsite and a bungalow park. It allows you to enjoy the camping atmosphere while staying in the comfort of a holiday home. There is a choice of two types. The wooden chalet (DE-54568-40) sleeps up to four people and features two bedrooms, a lounge and a comfortable kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with a gas hob. The stone bungalow (DE-54568-39) sleeps up to six people and features three bedrooms. The kitchen is fitted with an electric hob. Both the wooden chalets and the bungalows are ground-floor accommodations that are nicely furnished and feature a small, private terrace with garden furniture.
