The nearest small shops are within 2kms but you have all services in Fontenay, a pretty town 10 minutes away. The lake at Mervent (14kms) has a good selection of watersports and there is also a small zoo, and the village of Vouvant is the same distance and has been voted one of the most beautiful in France. There are several pretty towns with weekly markets and beach lakes while the Atlantic coast is less than an hour away for a day out at some stunning beaches. Also within an hour is the beautifully restored Roman town of La Rochelle with its attractive harbour lined with cafés and restaurants and the famous Ile de Ré just over the bridge or accessible on the ferry.
