Description

L’Aire de L’Aigle (the Place of the Eagle) is a chalet without comparison in Morzine. The chalet is constructed in reclaimed wood and hand cut stone, and offers an expansive open plan living, dining and kitchen area with stunning, uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains Les Terres Maudites and Dongalon. The chalet is situated in the Vallee de la Manche, 5 km above Morzine at 1200 meters, and 5 minutes from the nearest ski lift (Nyon).

Spread over four floors, the chalet offers 730sq meters of space, which makes it a great place for large groups and families to stay and allow everyone to have their own space. The basement has a table tennis table and large play area for children, and a wine cellar for adults. The ground floor has 5 ensuite bedrooms, some with adjoining lockable doors for families; a boot room suitable for storing skis and snowboards, and offers a heated boot rack and heated drying cupboard; and laundry room with Miele washing machine and tumble dryer. The first floor offers the master bedroom with its own private balcony, a large walk-in shower, a huge two-person bath, and a walk-in wardrobe; a large open plan living area with large open fireplace; dining area with large dining table suitable for up to 20 people; and a fully-equipped kitchen suitable for large groups with two ovens, two fridges and even two dishwashers. While there is not a local boulangerie, the Panasonic bread maker means you can still wake up to the smell of freshly-baked bread. The first floor living area has a wrap-around balcony and across one wall glass sliding doors and floor to ceiling windows to the top of the double-height ceiling, allowing uninterrupted views of the mountains and fir trees outside. The top floor of the house is a mezzanine with twin ensuite bedroom, play area and study. All bedrooms are ensuite and have White Company linen. The chalet has its own private driveway and 2 double garages, allowing covered parking for 4 cars. In the winter after fresh snow there is daily snow clearing of the drive.

Right outside the chalet you can go sledging (there are several sledges in the chalet for your use), take part in ski de fond or ski randonnée, and of course build a snowman. The superb off piste run coming off the back of Le Fornet in Avoriaz can be skied by good skiers when conditions are favourable, allowing you to ski back to the chalet. The chalet is at a higher altitude than the town of Morzine, so often it can snow at the chalet and you can enjoy your stay in a winter wonderland, even if the weather elsewhere is not as good.

In winter, the chalet is also served by a free shuttle bus service which commences and terminates just outside the chalet, so there is always a seat in the morning and remembering where to get off is not an issue.

200 meters from the chalet is a traditional mountain restaurant which serves one of the best cheese fondues in the area, and there is the opportunity for a special evening in a restaurant up the mountain which cannot be accessed by car, which we can tell more about nearer the time of your stay.

Please note the chalet is strictly non-smoking.
