Description

Les Petits Arbres offers style and authenticity in a glorious setting just outside the hilltop village of Bonnieux in the very heart of the enchanting Luberon in Provence.
Inside the interiors are simply beautiful. A modern yet classic kitchen offers keen cooks the perfect space to create a Provencal feast whilst the cosy living area adds to the home's charm with sofas facing the traditional fireplace. Tasteful yet traditional furnishings, wood-beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls are just some of the incredibly characterful features that you will find throughout, always juxtaposed with contemporary fittings and a modern finish.

The four simple yet delightful bedrooms are set out like a little labyrinth with stone steps leading to various levels and annexes whilst the four shower rooms are sure to impress. The piece de resistance is the covered terrace and open barbecue overlooking the wonderful swimming pool with typically Provencal views of the gardens, trees and pretty stone borie. You can even see Bonnieux from one of the patios or gaze over the lavender fields towards Lacoste and its castle in the distance; this really is your own corner of paradise in the glorious Luberon region.

Both Bonnieux and Lacoste are magical perched villages with narrow lanes, pretty restaurants and historic architecture. Climb to the top of each village for exceptional views of forests, vineyards and orchards. Other archetypal villages of the Luberon include Menerbes, Roussillon and Lourmarin as well as the town of Apt with its wonderful Saturday morning market.

There are endless walking and cycling trails through the magnificent countryside, wine-tasting, rock-climbing and canoeing along the river near L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, also the home to Provence's best brocante on a Sunday morning.

A little further afield, explore Les Alpilles with picturesque places such as Saint-Remy-de-Provence as well as the historic cities of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. This is a fine setting to discover the diverse landscapes, towns and cities of this alluring part of Provence.

Bonnieux, around a kilometre away, is an incredible perched village surrounded by woodland, orchards and vineyards. Explore the narrow lanes and climb up to the very top where the old 12th century church still stands and from where you can enjoy exceptional views. There's a lovely market on a Friday morning and lots of pretty cafes and restaurants to visit as well as a butchers, boulangerie and small grocery shop.

Lacoste is another picturesque village where many of the old buildings have been beautifully restored. At the top of the village are the ruins of a 11th century castle and further down you will find a handful of cafes and restaurants where you can soak up the ambience of this charming place.

Other archetypal Luberon villages within a short drive include Menerbes (10km), Roussillon (12km), Lourmarin (13km), Saignon (16km) and Buoux (12km, famous for its rock climbing). Food lovers will find a Farmer's market every day in a local village or town; don't miss the especially popular markets in Apt (16km) on a Saturday morning and Gordes (20km) on a Tuesday morning. A visit to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (26km) on a Sunday morning is a must for antique lovers with one of the best brocantes in southern France.

The Luberon region is loved by walkers and hikers alike with many trails to suit a variety of abilities and cyclists can enjoy whizzing past fields of lavender or sunflowers or heading to the mountains for off-road terrain. There are some incredible circuits to follow and maps are readily available or you can create your own routes between the villages.

You can also head west to Les Alpilles Regional Park where you can discover villages and towns such as Saint-Remy-de-Provence, Eygalieres and Les Baux-de-Provence, all within an hour.
