The Mas des Iris is a fully renovated traditional Provençal mansion located in the Aiguelongue district just north of Montpellier. The area is renowned for its green landscapes, clean air, and verdant biodiversity, making it the perfect getaway for those looking to relax in a lush natural setting, whilst a stone’s throw from Montpellier’s historical centre.
Surrounded by a beautiful Mediterranean garden, your family and friends will be able to bathe in the Mas des Iris’s large swimming pool, and benefit from the day-round sun on its large wooden-decked terrace around the pool and enjoy an array of sun loungers. In front of the house you can take advantage of a large sunny stone terrace equipped with a plancha. Other convivial activities include table-tennis or the traditional Jeu Provençal of pétanque, courtesy of the professional grade pitch on the mansion’s grounds, which is illuminated to enable night-time games. Furthermore, both a vegetable plot and egg-laying hens are located behind the house, providing an excellent opportunity for the education and amusement of the young, and the health of the wise.
The ground floor of this Mas offers a large and stunningly illuminated living room thanks to its double exposure, accentuated by its natural and light tones. This pursuit of authentic and simple Provençal charm continues to be visible in the fully equipped kitchen, with its clean lines and wooden highlights, whilst still being packed with amenities.
The master suite is on the ground floor: it includes an elliptic trainer (cross trainer) and has an en-suite shower-room. A further 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (with showers and bathtubs) are on the first floor: 2 of which are doubles, and 3 are singles. The decoration throughout is airy and modern whilst conserving a rustic air, with graceful personal touches such as an original wooden school desk (“pupitre d’écolier”).
Local shops within a 5mins walk include a bakery, pharmacy, grocery store, newsagent and delicatessen, and thanks to the on-site parking you will have access to the region’s beaches within 20mins. The Pic Saint Loup attracts visitors for its breath-taking landscapes; as do the multitude of nearby mountain caves, traditional medieval villages, and open-air markets. For active holidays, the local trails are often described as a dream for cyclists, runners and hikers alike, whilst local rivers and lakes make picnics and family excursions a breeze. Finally, the local area is known for producing the most exquisite wines in the whole region of Occitanie, which taste best when complemented by the fresh local produce!
