Friendly Spider Lake, located 15 miles from Traverse City, offers vacation and recreational opportunities year around. It is time to check your calendar, make your reservations and make a plan to get away and relax. Make your wine tour, color tour reservations now. This is the perfect long weekend ( 3day minimum) getaway place during the off season. We offer good summer swimming, boating, comfort and are near all that the Grand Traverse area has to offer. No sharks here and no more spiders than any other lake in the area. Good year around fishing on Spider Lake and on the numerous nearby lakes. State forests within 15 miles for hunting, hiking, biking, canoe rentals on the Boardman River are 10 minutes away at Ranch Rudolph. Groomed cross country ski trails are minutes away at the ranch and at the Sand Lakes Quiet Area. Traverse City offers many activities particularly the National Cherry Festival & Air Show, nationally acclaimed equestrian events, the Traverse City Film Festival, great golf, fine dining, downhill skiing, TART bike trails, shopping and casinos. Fall color tours are breathtaking, winery tours on the Old Mission Penninsula and Leelanau County are popular as are the visits to Fishtown in Leland and Suttons Bay. Charter a fishing boat and go out on the bay for the day. All of this and more are minutes from the cottage. Make the cottage your home base as you explore the beauty of northern Michigan regardless of season. If none of this appeals to you, it is okay to come here, shut off your phone and do absolutely nothing. It is beautiful here. To ensure availability make your summer reservations NOW, only a few weeks are left. Pontoon boat available for weekly rental negotiated separately.

The 333 Birchwood Lane Cottage has quite possibly the most scenic view on the lake. We have over 200 feet of private frontage. The front of the cottage has a new, double dock with ample mooring for your boat, safe steps with hand rails on either side from the dock to the sand bottom. We have excellent swimming from the dock. The dock and the waterfront are just steps away from the sunrise facing deck. The rear side of the property offers bass fishing from the shore or from a provided kayak on a no-wake channel or in the cove. Pedal boat, aluminum fishing boat, 2 kayaks, cushions and life preservers are provided for our guests use. The public launch site is minutes away if you bring your own boat.

Our cottage is fresh, clean & completely furnished. We have no security cameras during the rental season. The view from the living area and the deck spans the north end of the lake and views two of the lakes islands. It is a spectacular view at sunrise. There is one bedroom with a queen bed, large closet, dresser and sliding glass doors to the wrap around deck which overlook the channel to one of the many coves. Your comfortable bed will be made and waiting for you when you arrive. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room with linen available.
We have a 3 night minimum rental Labor Day until the first weekend in May. No rentals November through March. 5 night minimum ( Fri or Sat. Check in) during summer season.

There is a spotlessly clean equipped kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, small stove with oven, coffee maker, toaster, and a gas grill on the deck. There is a full bath with a tub. Towels are provided but guests need to bring their own beach towels. Heat is provided via a gas furnace. Cottage has 2 flat screen TV's, basic cable, blue-ray player and WiFi . Dad (or Mom) can relax in the big leather swivel recliner and watch the ball game, read a book from the little reading library or just snooze. If you don't feel like cooking, a nice restaurant/family tavern is close by and will deliver a good pizza or other menu items. There is a fire pit with a grate in case you want to grill over wood or have a campfire, lots of outdoor chairs and a large woodpile. There is no washer & dryer. Laundry can be done at one of many laundromats in & near Traverse City or Kingsley. You will have plenty of towels and bed linens provided .

The cottage is a privately owned single cottage, not part of a resort. It is somewhat secluded from the neighbors on a semi- wooded point on a private drive. You will not see nor hear any road traffic. You will see friendly boaters using the channel on one side of the cottage which accesses a no- wake cove which is a great place to explore with the kayak, swim or fish. Spider Lake has a no-wake law meaning that those who enjoy sports such as higher speed boating, tubing, skiing, jet skis, activities that create a wake, do so between the hours of 11 am and 7:30 pm. Outside those hours, activities are quieter, pontoons, kayaks, paddle boats, and fishermen share these crystal clean waters, the quality of which is monitored closely by the lake association. This cottage might be just what you need to wind up or unwind. Those with limited mobility will find only 2 steps to the deck and no steps, only a short gentle decline to the dock. There are steps and hand rails off each side of the dock to also access the water. Typically, Spider Lake rentals have more steps to the lake.

There are many opportunities to vacation on Spider Lake, no matter whose cottage you choose, Spider Lake offers the absolute best in lakeside activities, location and friendly hosts for your up north vacation.

Important note: As one of our guests noted, we do have a flagpole. At no charge, we include a U of M flag which flies proudly over the deck. Guests are welcome to bring, rather encouraged, to bring the flag of their alma mater to fly while they vacation .

After you book, I will contact you by phone to answer any questions and mail you a contract. We will meet you on arrival, give you a tour of the property, give you an orientation to the pontoon if you have decided to rent it, help you with your own boat if needed, then leave to let you enjoy your vacation. We are always available by phone .

Because there has been so much press re: security cameras at Vacation Rentals, we want to assure our guests that we have no cameras. We have not had a need for cameras during the rental season. We want our guests to feel at ease, relax, and enjoy their vacation. If you have questions, please ask.
