Description

Welcome to the Northumberland Nook, a coastal retreat for salt, sand and surf seekers that is advantageously perched just above the ocean allowing for uninterrupted panoramic views of the Northumberland Strait. Whether you enjoy lounging on the large deck, relaxing inside or walking the sandy beach, the sights and sounds of the ocean surround you.

Northumberland Nook is a newly renovated 3 bedroom coastal get away located on a secluded sandy beach in Toney River, Nova Scotia. This cozy, comfortable ocean cottage is the ideal escape for those seeking a place to “get away from it all”. Whether you enjoy beach-combing along the sandy shores, walking the endless sand bars, watching the fishing boats haul their traps or swimming in the ‘warmest waters north of the Carolina’s’ we have you covered.

After your time at the beach, rinse off in the outdoor shower. Enjoy some relaxation time on our large ocean-facing deck where you are perfectly positioned to experience some of the most stunning, picturesque sunsets. As the evening approaches, and the sky darkens, you have your choice of enjoying the warmth of a campfire in the fire pit, and/or waiting for the stars to reveal themselves for some exceptional stargazing.

What better way to finish off the perfect day than with gourmet fare whether that be barbecuing on the outdoor grill and eating seaside, enjoying lobster caught close by or enjoying a family-style dinner at the custom-made harvest table.

Northumberland Nook is conveniently located on the sunrise trail and is a short 12-minute trip into the historic Town of Pictou. Pictou is the home of the Ship Hector, Grohmann Knives, numerous pubs/eateries, a grocery store and where you can board the ferry to Prince Edward Island. Hit the trail in the opposite direction and arrive at the artistic village of Tatamagouche. This small village has lots to offer its visitors including a number of small artist studios, a farmers’ market, a brewery, the Balmoral Grist Mill, and Jost Vineyards. In both Pictou and Tatamagouche, you have easy access to the Trans Canada Trail which is a great way to see the area either on foot or cycling. All along the sunrise trail you will find numerous parks and sandy beaches that provide the perfect stop for a picnic and cooling off.
