Down a long gorgeous drive, a modernist marvel called Wilderness Meadows sits in a lea of wildflowers and aspens, ringed with mountains. The spare integrity of the architecture only highlights the richly textured, wildly beautiful setting of its Westbank location, minutes from the entrance to Grand Teton National Park.

The long, clean lines of the main house and guest house are the very essence of flow and function: one simple, airy, light-filled space opening to the next, each one exquisite and perfectly suited for its use. The entry hall leads into the sweeping kitchen, dining and living areas, anchored at the far end by an angular wood-burning fireplace. Rich, warm hues of leather, maple and garnet confer warmth and intimacy, while the great wall of glass running the length of the space opens this luxury Jackson Hole rental home to the staggering landscape outside.

The lengthy slab dining table seats fourteen in lovely leather chairs; the long, voluptuous crimson sofas and leather armchairs in the living area will hold as many. The kitchen is splendid and streamlined; stainless steel drawers slide out easily and close with a whisper; there is a first-rate stove, three ovens, two sinks and plenty of gleaming workspace on the big center island. The huge windows lend a feeling of timeless suspension.

Wilderness Meadows is a family-oriented property; and at the top of the stairs is the game room - a teenager’s nirvana - and a half bath. A queen-size daybed and a right-angle sectional face a big television a ping pong table stands at the ready, and there is a shelf stocked with games of all kinds.

The rest of the upstairs is dedicated to the fabulous multi-room primary suite: office, foyer, bedroom, bathroom and walk-in closet. The bedroom, at the end, has wrap-around windows and a sleek wood-burning fireplace. A pair of modernist armchairs is angled toward the alpine panorama outside, and a television rises like magic from a sideboard across from the king size bed. The primary bath has double sinks and a wet room with huge soaking tub; mountains spill down through the windows. The office has an L- shaped desk, bookshelves and a highly distracting view of its own.

There are two bedrooms on main floor: the first a simple queen room with built in closets and an en suite bath; the second, a four-bed bunkroom. Each bunk has its own drop down desk, reading light and view to the mountains. The bunkroom’s truly cool bathroom is outfitted in red and white, with two white sinks set on a striking red counter and two faucet-like shower heads against a background of cherry tile.

A long teak walkway ties main house of this amazing Jackson Hole vacation home to the guest house, with the hot tub waiting at the join. A cedar-lined steam sauna in the main house and a roomy outdoor hot tub are rejuvenating indulgences in any season, but feel especially decadent after a day on the slopes, or snowshoeing powdered trails.

The guest house is a sunny, happy, stylish retreat. Clean white walls, huge windows and a fluffy white carpet in the living room are warmed up by a low, colorful couch. The smart little kitchen, tiled in silver, has a stovetop, an under counter refrigerator and a microwave. Down the hallway, two carpeted bedrooms can sleep four people, and share a bath tiled in the smoke-and-cloud colors of birch bark.

The two houses bracket a quadrangle of velvet lawn; plenty of lawn games are provided. Wild grasses, aspen and bulrushes fringe the property, attracting moose that come to snack on the natural landscape; the Grand Tetons rear up in the background. Wilderness Meadows is just minutes from Teton Village and the world-class trails of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. In warm weather, a quick and lovely bike ride will get you to gourmet grocers and dining in the Aspens or the shops and restaurants of Teton Village.
