In the heart of the Loire valley, Château de Raguerniere is a magnificently decorated 19th century château which sits in a private estate of 22 acres of formal gardens, rolling fields and woodland.
Close to the picturesque town of Langeais by the Loire River, this elegant château offers beautifully designed accommodation for up to 15 guests. It’s living spaces are impressive with fine furnishings and antiques that have been carefully selected alongside a great sense of space. From the formal salon, medieval dining room and billiard room to the relaxed TV lounge, gym and cocktail bar, there is ample room for everyone.
Nine individually designed bedrooms allow flexible sleeping options across the upper floors. Some bedrooms are suites with their own sitting rooms and all nine of the attractive bedrooms feature their own bath or shower room.
Enjoy nature walks and jogging trails across the vast grounds or simply make the most of the glorious swimming pool with the historic château as your backdrop. An array of activities awaits from badminton, boules and croquet to a 9-hole frisbee golf course and golf range. Pick seasonal fruit from the orchard and see what may be growing in the kitchen garden.
The location of Château de Raguerniere is fantastic – it’s only a short drive or walk to the local village with its restaurants, weekly market and the incredible Château de Langeais, one of the oldest castles in the region. Other grand châteaux of the Loire valley are within a short drive including Château de Villandry, Château d’Ussé and Château d'Azay-le-Rideau.
A little further afield, visit historic towns and cities such as Saumur and Tours, sample excellent wines from the vineyards of Chinon, Vouvray and St. Nicolas de Bourgueil or hire bikes to follow the iconic Loire à vélo cycling trail, a superb way to soak up the beauty and heritage of the Loire River and its captivating surroundings.

You can walk to Langeais in around 15 minutes following local roads (no pavement part of the way). Further along the banks of the Loire is Tours (32km), the cultural hub of the Loire Valley. This vibrant city blends old-world charm with modern sophistication. Visit the grand Tours Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, and stroll through the cobblestone streets of the historic district, where half-timbered houses transport you back in time. The lively Place Plumereau, often regarded as one of the most beautiful squares in France, offers delightful cafés and restaurants perfect for enjoying local cuisine. Don't miss the bustling markets, where you can sample regional specialties like rillettes and goat cheese. Tours also boasts its own château, surrounded by picturesque gardens, making it an essential stop on your journey. Many more wonders of the Loire Valley are within easy reach. Within 10 minutes by car, explore the breathtaking Château de Villandry (12km), renowned for its spectacular Renaissance gardens. In the other direction is the enchanting Château d’Ussé (19km), said to have inspired the tale of Sleeping Beauty, or head to the moated masterpiece of Château d'Azay-le-Rideau (11km). For wine enthusiasts, vineyards near Chinon (27km), Saumur (44km), Vouvray (35km) and St. Nicolas de Bourgueil (25km) offer wine tours and tastings. Meanwhile, scenic trails, horse-riding opportunities and cycling paths along the Loire River invite you to lose yourself in the region’s beauty – the Loire à vélo is one of France’s most iconic cycling route and a fantastic way for all ages to explore the region. It is also handy to know that Langeais train station has departures to Angers via Saumur and Tours (with onwards connections to Paris). TGV trains from Paris Montparnasse to Tours take around 1 hour 15 minutes.
