Description

Around 8km from the medieval centre of Obidos, Casa Seruda offers comfortable accommodation in a relaxed setting. This well-appointed, 4-bedroom holiday home is a short drive from the beaches of Portugal's Silver Coast and features a spacious terrace with a bar and swimming pool.

Situated to the south of Vau village, Casa Seruda is within easy reach of the Obidos lagoon, the city of Caldas da Rainha and the wonderful beaches of Foz do Arelho. Useful amenities in Amoreira are also a short distance away, around 2km from the house.

Casa Seruda offers the use of a streamlined swimming pool with step access, with lots of space on the surrounding terrace. There are also covered areas with a bar, picnic tables and seating, a barbecue, outdoor shower and sun loungers. You can easily combine a morning on the terrace with an afternoon at the beach, or vice versa – the nearest is around 9km away.

Inside, Casa Seruda offers attractive living areas that are easily accessible from the terrace. There's an informal dining space with seating for six, and an adjacent kitchen with an oven, gas hob, microwave and dishwasher. The main living room has a central fireplace and offers a variety of seating as well as entertainment from cable TV.
All of the accommodation is on one level, giving easy access to the four bedrooms. Two of these have queen-size beds, and one of these rooms also has an en suite. There is also a twin room, and a room with a sofa-bed and pull-out bed which has direct access to the terrace. These rooms are ideal for younger guests. There is an additional bathroom too, complete with a bath tub.

The house has many appealing destinations on its doorstep, including the Praia d'el Rey golf course, and the exceptional surf hotspot of Peniche is a little over 20 minutes away. If you fancy checking out the capital city, Lisbon is around one hour away to the south.

#### Location
Obidos is around one hour north of Lisbon, and well worth the trip to see a different side of the region. Many visitors flock to Obidos to check out its medieval, walled centre where you will find a castle and lots of picturesque little streets, some now lined with souvenir shops and tourist-friendly eateries.

Downing a shot of cherry-flavoured Ginjinha liqueur in a chocolate cup is perhaps the iconic Obidos experience, with walking the walls and admiring the views running it close. Another highlight is the elaborate Porta da Vila gateway at the entrance to Rua Direita, the town's main street, and a number of churches such as Santa Maria and Sao Pedro add yet more character to this pretty town.

Obidos is also an enjoyable place to be when it stages an event or festival – among them are an Opera Festival and the International Chocolate Festival, as well as regular open-air concerts in summer.

North of the town, you will find Caldas da Rainha, a larger city around 11km away. This handsome spa town has some notable sights of its own, such as the peaceful park named after former Portuguese monarch King Carlos I, where you will find a bandstand, boating lake and a restaurant. To the west, the Lagoa de Obidos, leads you down to the enchanting coastal town of Foz do Arelho, where the beaches are a big attraction – it's a lovely place to enjoy a relaxing dinner looking out on the Atlantic Ocean.

A little further down the coast is Peniche, home of many a surfing championship and a richly historic fortress. At mainland Europe's westernmost point, the location alone is significant. It also serves as a gateway to the wonderful nature reserve of Berlengas, a not-to-be-missed island just off the coast.
