The stunning coastline stretches for over 800 km and ranges from rugged and rocky to fine, golden sand shelving gently into the sparkling, crystal-clear Mediterranean sea. Cyprus is steeped in rich history, over 9,000 years old, and has many wonderful archaeological treasures. The occupation by many civilisations, including the Romans, Byzantines and Greeks, have all left a dramatic influence. There are crusader fortresses surrounded by tall cypress trees, Greco-Roman theatres carved into rock face.
