Description

Recently refurbished and new to the holiday rental market last year, this charming 15th century stone cottage set within the walls of the beautiful medieval Bastide of Domme, Dordogne offers comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. Situated at the top of rue Porte de la Combe, it is ideally located within a few minutes' walk from shops, bars and restaurants.

From the picturesque front terrace opens into a stylish large open-plan Living/Kitchen area: The Living area offers cosy seating, with TV & DVD, and, dining table seating 6. The fully equipped Kitchen has electric oven/hob/extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, fridge-freezer, toaster/grill, kettle, and a good range of crockery and cooking accessories, iron/board.

Outside there is a private, part-covered patio with table and 6 chairs where you can relax and enjoy alfresco dining.

The open-plan wooden stairs lead upstairs to 2 double Bedrooms (queen-size bed (160cm)/double bed (140cm)), Bathroom with toilet, basin and shower, and downstairs to a large Master Bedroom with king-size bed (180cm), wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table. This is a cool room in the heat of the summer and has nice inward opening windows with grill and shutter opening onto Porte de la Combe.

The former owner, a local resident of Domme, has spent the last few years sympathetically restoring this former Doctor's house to its former glory, retaining the magnificent fireplace set on the ground floor Living/Kitchen area. We have just installed a beautiful wood-burning stove for the cooler evenings in cooler seasons, and we are also planning to install a stylish ensuite to complement the Master Bedroom later this year.

We ask that care is taken when using the open plan wooden stairs with handrails fixed to two of the walls. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor.

An additional 3% Taxe de Sejour will be added to the booking fee - this is a compulsory charge which is then paid over to the local authority.
