Mas du Marechal: The Mas du Marechal is situated in the village of Vers Pont du Gard which is in the heart of the Cotes du Rhone wine region. It is also a stone’s throw away from the legionary Pont du Gard, the almost 2000 year old Roman Aqueduct. This is a World Heritage site and is the 3rd most visited site in France after Paris and Mont St. Michel in Brittany.

Vers Pont du Gard: The village of Vers Pont du Gard is a lively working village with bakery, epicerie (mini supermarket), La Grange wine bar which is also great for coffee and cakes and offers musical evenings on Thursdays. There is a bar restaurant that serves simple regional food daily, a visiting pizza van twice weekly, hairdresser, pharmacy, doctors, dentists, tabac/presse, physiotherapists, aestheticienne, reflexologist (by arrangement will come to the house!) post office, sports club and a pre-primary and primary schools. There is also a Relais and Chateaux restaurant nearby as well as a few restaurants very close by. Catering and cooking lessons, wine tastings, musical evenings at the house can be arranged. A fresh produce farmers market takes place on the square three times a week including a fish supplier, charcuterie, cheese, wines. You can also buy wine directly from the kitchen door of the local vineyards. Food and wine are the main attractions of the area and sublime food markets abound.

Activities: Bicycles can be rented nearby (including electric bikes) and the surrounding vineyards provide enjoyable and easy rides through flat terrain. Special guided cycling tours can be arranged. There is a new cyclists only track joining the village to nearby villages and up to Uzes through beautiful countryside. This offers absolutely safe cycling for all ages. Kayaking is also a possible pastime and the Gardon river meanders right underneath the Pont du Gard aqueduct. Swimming in the river is very popular too from a small private beach.
Wonderful hiking routes are all around. Ancient villages dot the gentle rolling hills and are perfect for exploring. Guided historical and archaelogical hikes can also be arranged.
