Description

"Villa Adaline is magical. It was so special to be hidden away in the Andalucian mountains, with the incredible sunset view and watching the stars come out! It is a true haven of tranquillity. I couldn’t recommend it enough!" Vanessa Kirby, August 2020. Imagine yourself sitting on the Portico terrace, gazing out at 360 degree sweeping views, whilst sipping a glass of local wine; Villa Adaline offers a Spanish paradise. This magical retreat, located on a hilltop, giving the feeling of grandeur with stunning views surrounding you at all times. A short drive down a winding, hilly road you will find the charming village of Canillas de Aceituno, the perfect spot to enjoy local eateries and shops. Inside this charming property, there is a bohemian feel, with warm furnishings, carefully chosen for your every comfort. You enter into a beautiful living and dining area with space for everyone to come together and enjoy quality time. The kitchen is fully-equipped for your use, as well as a fabulous outdoor cooking area! There are four bedrooms, three of which are located in the west wing of the house. These three rooms share one bathroom. The fourth bedroom is the master, located on the other side of the house and has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. A walk-in closet provides plenty of space for all your belongings, so there is no need to pack light! Villa Adaline is designed in an organic architectural style, with curving walls blending into the surrounding landscapes. This stunning property is all designed around the outdoors, making the most of the breath-taking views and offering space for guests to enjoy the warm climate at all times of day. Under the portico terrace you will find a fabulous long dining table and outdoor kitchen. There is an ever-popular pizza oven, extremely popular with families where kids can enjoy making and crafting their own pizzas! The barbecue is another popular treat, great for cooking al-fresco. The private swimming pool sits glistening on the terrace, surrounded by luxurious day beds and relaxing hammocks. In this place, surrounded by stunning surroundings and the sound of chirping birds, it is impossible not to relax, a perfect holiday retreat!

The region around Villa Adaline is known as La Axarquia, an ancient land rich not only with Moorish history, but Roman and Phonecian before that. It is a beautiful, largely mountainous region that nestles next to the Andalusian coast with a fertile agricultural production founded on grape (and wine!) production, olives, avocados and tropical fruits. The local village is only 10 minutes away and not only provides all basic amenities but also marks the start of the Mudehar route, a string of Moorish white-washed villages distinguishable by Mudehar architecture that's reflective of the region's rich history. Nestled amongst the slopes of Maroma, the tallest peak in the region, you'll find an excellent driving tour stretching some 25 km to Competa. The cliffs and beaches around Nerja (about 40 km away) are among the most stunning of the southern coast, while Nerja itself is great for shopping and dining. Yet the nearest beaches, in Torre del Mar, are only about 25 km away and reachable within half an hour. Here you will also find the nearest golf course, while all along the coast one can find opportunities for water sports and fishing. Malaga, at just an hours drive away, offers a surprising level of sophistication and culture, cosmopolitan street life, dining and shopping. The old Moorish Alcazaba, the bustling port development known as Muelle Uno, the cathedral and the botanical garden are some of the highlights and are well worth exploring. Malaga also has the nearest airport and is also accessible within one hour. Granada and the famous Alhambra are accessible for a day trip (roughly an hour and a half away), as are the ancient Cordoba Mosque (two hours away) and the wonders of Seville (2.5 hours away). The ski season in the Sierra Nevada mountains (the second highest range in Europe) above Granada is a long one, usually running from November into May, and at a 2-hour drive away, it makes for an easy and delightfully different day trip.
