Occupying a splendid position on the hillside above the ‘borgo’ of Paciano, this beautiful stone built rural retreat enjoys panoramic views over the Umbrian countryside towards Lake Trasimeno whilst being only 1km from Paciano itself. Here restaurants and amenities can be found in the narrow streets and small piazzas that sit within the impressive medieval walls of this village named as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Borghi in Italy’.
Steps lead up through the pretty garden to La Tranquillità. Spacious and beautifully decorated, it is immediately obvious that great care has been taken to create a most welcoming environment. The living areas flow seamlessly from one to another, creating areas for relaxation and entertaining, including access to the courtyard, undoubtedly a focal spot during the summer. The lovely travertine countertop and the equipment in the stylish kitchen will appeal to those in charge of meals. Views to the lake can be enjoyed from two of the smartly presented bedrooms (one of which has its own private balcony) and all bedrooms have their own bathroom facilities.
From the courtyard it is a few steps across the garden to the pool area, neatly defined by mature hedges and bushes. Just below sits a shaded dining area complete with barbecue.
The location is a perfect base for exploring the area with many of the charming villages dotted around Lake Trasimeno offering a variety of diversions such as ancient castles and lakeside beaches. The Tuscan border is just minutes away and many of the towns synonymous with this region of Italy such as Montepulciano, Pienza, Cortona, Perugia and Siena are within comfortable driving distance.
Paciano’s neighbour, Panicale, offers a further small selection of bars and restaurants in its historic centre. For comprehensive amenities, Castiglione del Lago (14km) combines a picturesque lakeside position with a more varied offering of bars, shops and restaurants. The Castello del Leone (Fortress of the Lion), an impressive focal point of the town, dates back to the 13th century. Artfully restored over the years, it is open to the public and a climb up to the castle keep is well-rewarded by a spectacular 360° panorama. The lakeside setting also provides access to a number of watersports and beaches. Rome and Florence can each be reached in around two hours by train from Chiusi.
Parties paying the Small Party Rate (for up to 6 people) have use of the three double bedrooms. If preferred, the twin bedroom can be prepared instead of one of the double bedrooms – please advise at time of booking.
