Description

The River Seine runs through the estate of this chateau in Champagne surrounded by beautiful French countryside. The 18th century castle available for your exclusive use lies in 17 acres of grounds with a private tennis court and horse riding stables. Swim and fish in the river, or travel to a local lake for sailing and water skiing.
The chateau sleeps up to 20 guests in its 11 double and twin bedrooms. Curl up with a book in the large salon with open fireplace and television, or play billiards in an elegant room with a music centre. You can choose from two dining rooms plus an outdoor barbecue area with tables that accommodate the entire group for an alfresco meal.
Chateau de Foulze is a short drive from the village of Bar-sur-Seine (3 km) and a Michelin starred restaurant. A little further, you can explore the medieval streets of Troyes (20 km) and its museum of modern art. Look for local specialties like Barbery cheese at the markets, and make a day trip to Reims or Epernay to enjoy the famous champagne houses and cellars.
Reach Chateau de Foulze via the airport at Troyes (20 km) or Paris (225km).

#### Features
On the ground floor the large, welcoming entrance hall leads in to the salon, which benefits from an open fireplace and is equipped with a television. Chateau de Foulze benefits from two dining areas: a less formal, family dining room, and the large, beautiful dining room which seats up to sixteen people. Conveniently, there is a WC on the ground floor. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, microwave and dishwasher and a scullery. A huge billiard room and music centre can also be found on the ground floor.
7 of the 11 bedrooms in the chateau can be found on the first floor: 6 large double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom that also contains an additional single bed if needed. There are three bathrooms and a separate WC on this floor. Four bedrooms, 3 twins and a double, are on the second floor, along with a separate WC. The chateau has Wi-Fi internet access.
The delightful BBQ area benefits from two fabulous tables for outdoor dining and enough room for the whole group to eat together. The area is wonderful for children to run around, and there is no need for parents to worry because the grounds are completely fenced. The stables (for horse riding), private tennis court and magnificent gardens provide plenty for the group to do, and the 1.5m river flowing through the garden is ideal for those who wish to indulge in swimming, sailing or fishing. Water sports including sailing and water skiing can also be enjoyed at the local lake. There is ample parking for cars, in both the courtyard and the garage, which can accommodate up to 3 vehicles.

#### Location
The nearest airport is at Troyes (20km). Situated in a sixteen hectare park, this lovely 18th century chateau estate is 3km from the village of Bar-sur-Seine, 20 kms from the town of Troyes, and two hours drive from Paris. The young river Seine flows through the gardens for more than a kilometre. Bar-sur-Seine has all the essential shops and there is a greater selection including supermarkets, restaurants and general facilities, in Troyes.
Troyes is a quiet town. Tucked in a loop of the Seine, it still has an unspoiled central area of delightfully narrow cobbled streets lined with medieval timbered houses. Look for Barbery, a soft round cheese cured in wood ashes from the village of the same name nearby. Southern Champagne is an area of peaceful open plains and woods, rivers and lakes, while the vineyards are further to the west and north in the Marne valley and on the slopes of the plains around Reims. For champagne tours you should visit the caves in Reims or Epernay. Golf is available in Troyes.
Other local activities include tennis, waterskiing, sailing, mountain biking, hunting, quad-tours, fishing and canoeing. There are several excellent restaurant options in the local area, including a Michelin starred restaurant 4km from Chateau de Foulze.
