Description

The Old Stable is a charming cottage set back from the road with a private mature garden and a fantastic panoramic view of Lough Foyle, the North Coast and the Atlantic Ocean. The original house is over 100 years old and beautifully renovated. The traditional charm is preserved and modern conveniences added for comfort, includes central heating, open plan livingroom, a modern kitchen, one spacious ensuite bedroom, bathroom (two in total) and a wood burning stove. This is an ideal holiday retreat for individuals, couples or a small family who value privacy and tranquility.
The garden is very peaceful and private, enjoy a barbecue or just take a seat outside and enjoy the magnificent view. Relax watching the boats going by or while listening to the sound of the small steam and the birds. This is a great tour base for exploring the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. A short (15 min) walk takes you to the Blue Flag Shroove Beach and Inish Head lighthouse, where you will find a beautiful sandy beach, with car park and toilet facilities. The beach is suitable for children, swimming activities and life guards are on duty during summer months.
The seaside villages of Greencastle and Moville offer nice restaurants, including the famous Kealys Seafood restaurant. A friendly local pub is a 5 min walk away from the cottage and both Greencastle and Moville offer genuine Irish pubs, live music and summer festivals. Greencastle Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links course, visible from the house and only a 5 minute journey by car. From the house you can join the stunning Inishowen Head loop walk (8km) or from Greencastle join a beautiful shore walk to Moville (2km). Moville also offers sea kayaking and canoeing.
In the summer the car ferry services takes you from Greencastle to the scenic coast of Northern Ireland, Giant Causeway and The Bushmills Distillery are approximately 1.5 hour car journey. The Historic City of Derry is only a 30 min. drive away.

There is plenty of space for parking. We do not permit smoking in the Old Stable, we hope this consideration for others does not cause you much inconvenience.
