Take a boat or catamaran trip from the harbour in Funchal and enjoy the beautiful landscape or experience sports fishing. Take the opportunity to enjoy a whale and dolphin watch trip. If you have a more adventurous soul discover Arco da Calheta from above while paragliding or walk along a levada (trail walks), one of the most exciting experiences to have on the island. There is more than 3,000 km of irrigation channels that guide you through the most beautiful landscapes of the Island. Just a few minutes driving from Arco da Calheta, in Rabaçal you will find some of the most popular levada walks in the Island. Levada das 25 Fontes and Levada do Risco flow parallel to each other, both heading to the Hydroelectric Power Station in Calheta. The scenery and landscape leading up to the Risco waterfall are identical, although each levada has its own particularities such as the waterfalls and beautiful views of the profound valleys.
