Built on a rocky slope overlooking the mountain of Psiloritis, this residence in Meronas of Rethymnon has a long history. It was built in 1935 and fully renovated in 2019.The location of the property was chosen carefully based on the connection of the rock with the house, the panoramic mountain views and the peaceful environment as it is located at the edge of the village but in a quiet area.The villa lays in three levels creating two independent properties one on the ground floor and the other on the 1st floor which has internal stairs leading to the second floor. This way the villa offers the privacy two families or a group of friends might need during their holidays. Both properties have a living room and a fully equipped kitchen and are tastefully decorated with wood, stone and other materials that really breathe life into the house and also respecting the traditional characteristics of the area and the nature.The outdoor area feels like the building has a 'dialogue' with the rock and the rocks becomes a part of the villa. The outer space develops gradually with rising levels on the rocky slope that are accessible by a rock path. In one of the levels there is a small living room carved into the rock that intensifies the relationship between the built and the natural environment. The pool will offer you coolness in the hot summer days and hours of leisure and calmness lying on the sun loungers with all the privacy you need. Prepare a nice meal for your family at the bbq area or enjoy your breakfast in one of the balconies admiring the stunning mountain view. Feel free to walk around the village that has Venetian elements in its architecture and explore the traditional way of Cretan life. Rethymno is about 30km away and you will be seduced by the old Venetian town with the narrow streets full of restaurants, coffee bars and a big shopping area. Crete has some of the best beaches in Greece. Preveli, Agios Pavlos, Bali,Triopetra, Panormos, Agia Galini are some nice choices.
