Description

Located in the beautiful gated community of Samara Reefs, Villa Mirador is a luxurious villa uniquely situated in a jungle setting with an infinity edge swimming pool. Its location is superb: a 5-minute drive from the town of Samara and an easy 10-minute walk to beautiful sandy Samara Beach. The minute you arrive at the house, you are met with a sense of luxury and spaciousness and then are drawn into the HUGE, stunning huge ocean view. Two double-wide glass folding doors open up to take full advantage of the gorgeous ocean view. The large deck has glass railings so nothing gets in the way of your gorgeous panoramic view of Samara Beach. In the center of the horse-shoe shaped bay is the picture-perfect island of Isla Chora: the centerpiece of Playa Samara. Surrounding the house on all sides are mature, green jungle canopies, beautiful trees that feel close enough to touch.
From your front doorstep, you can see a green hillside - the Werner Sauter Biological Land Reserve. Regular visitors to the Samara Reefs trees are 20 varieties of birds including parrots and parakeets, families of howler monkeys, iguanas, etc. Dotted throughout the property are lemon trees, starfruit trees, and gorgeous tropical shrubs and flowers.

Inside Villa Mirador are gorgeous architectural features: vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, natural rock and hardwood flooring, carved exotic hardwood doors, a large gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a wine-fridge, a butler's pantry, a walk-in air-conditioned pantry-closet for food storage, a warming drawer on the oven - every amenity you could wish for. Out every window are stunning panoramic ocean or jungle views. Enjoy in the privacy of your beautiful tropical garden your very own infinity edge salt-water swimming pool, a refreshing outdoor shower, lounge chairs, umbrella, beach towels, and a huge sundeck - perfect for relaxing.

The house can accommodate 8 easily - there is a large living room, indoor dining room, as well as a huge upper outdoor deck with outdoor dining tables. There is a beautiful barbecue/outdoor kitchen area and two outdoor showers. There are 4 bedrooms: two have king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms. The other 2 bedrooms each have king-size beds and a queen size bed - making this house ideal for a large family, 2 families, or 3 couples.

Situated 125 feet above sea level, Villa Mirador is an easy 12 minute walk to wonderful, sandy, Playa Samara and only 7 minutes more to the hub of Samara - Restaurante Locanda, Gusto on the Beach, Lo Que Hay, the Samara Info Center, and Super-Samara, the main grocery store. By car, the trip to the town-center is faster - 5 minutes. To Playa Carrillo, it is an 8 minute drive. Villa Mirador is, in every way, a perfect “getaway”. Located at the very end of the driveway in Samara Reefs, you will see no other cars, and no other people (other than the caretakers and neighbours in Samara Reefs) … just complete privacy and tranquility.
At Villa Mirador, what you WILL hear is the soothing sound of ocean surf, the sounds of various songbirds, and, from time to time, the hooting of several families of monkeys (Mantled Howler Monkeys) - many which are visible from your lounge chair on your deck or from their favourite trees, just outside the front door. “Mirador” means viewpoint or a look-out point. From this house, there are look-out points in all directions.

Throughout the Samara Reefs property and lined along the interlocking brick driveway are many beautiful, well-maintained gardens featuring a stunning variety of beautiful and deliciously-scented flowers and shrubs: red ginger plants, Gardenia, Bougainvillea, the very exotic Bird-of-Paradise flower, and Frangipani, even lemon-trees and a starfruit tree nearby. What sets Villa Mirador apart from the other 6 Samara Reefs houses is its very private location and proximity to the canopy. Because it is situated a bit lower on the hillside, you are eye-to-eye with the beautiful green mature jungle canopy native to this dry tropical rainforest. The huge trees, which you can practically touch from the kitchen sundeck, add to the feeling of serenity and beauty. This piece of preserved jungle canopy, which stretches down hundreds of yards towards Samara beach, is something you would only expect to find off "the beaten path".
Villa Mirador was designed in 2007 by one of Costa Rica's top architects, Karin Nagel, who is a Lecturer at the International Center for Sustainable Development in San José, Costa Rica and who was trained as an architect at the University of London. This house, in every way, makes the most of this gorgeous natural setting. Everything about its design is well-thought-out and there is great flow from room to room. All 4 bedrooms are very large, have spectacular ocean views, and excellent bathrooms. The gourmet kitchen is fully outfitted, with ultra-modern granite countertops, European cabinets, a sit-up bar/wet bar for four, a butler's kitchen, wine fridge.... it is, without question, THE entertainment hub.

As a guest of Villa Mirador, we welcome you to enjoy the centerpiece of Samara Reefs – the stunning waterfall feature located next to Casa Colibri (vrbo 383817). Every day the waterfountain comes on for an hour each morning. Ask our caretaker, Daniel, exactly what time the fountain comes on. Water flows down through a series of pools carved into a rocky riverbed called “Rio Corto”, then flows over a wall, down into a shallow jungle pool below. Inspired by the waterfall and Hotspring pools at Tabacon Resort in Lake Arenal, this setting is just spectacular. And sitting UNDER the waterfall is spectacular because for a brisk, refreshing shoulder massage, there is absolutely nothing like it. Behind the waterfall is a cool shaded grotto with a concrete built-in bench. This provides a hidden spot to sit and enjoy the wonderful vista of Isla Chora. This is definitely an interesting spot to seek out during the hotter hours of the day. There are many many activities available in Samara, something different to keep you busy and entertained every day: surfing lessons, boogie-boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, renting ATVs, bicycles, go for a guided nature hike with Samara Trails, go zip-lining with the wonderful guides from WingNuts Canopy Tours, all highly rated. Ask Brenda and Christopher at the Samara Info Center for their recommendations and check out their website.

At Villa Mirador you’ll find everything you might need: Wi-Fi (no code required), a large TV, even beach chairs that you are welcome to take to the beach with you. When you arrive at Samara Reefs gated entrance, you will be greeted by our Samara Reefs Administrator, Daniel Quiros. He will show you how everything works in the house: the telephone, the alarm system, the room safe, the pool controls, etc. If you need any assistance with anything to do with the house, the pool, or the remote-controlled security gate, he will be able to help you.
Villa Mirador is an easy 10-12 minute walk to the beach OR a 5-minute drive to town. Because of its convenient location, having a car is optional. A taxi ride from central Samara to your doorstep is just $5. Pick up some steaks and cook them at home in this barbecue-dream-location, hire our special in-house chef and enjoy delicious food served on Villa Mirador’s outside dining room, or eat in town from a choice of wonderful and varied restaurants in Samara and Carrillo. The hardest decision you might have all day is whether to have Italian food at Gusto Beach, mouth-watering Argentinian outdoor grilled entrees from the ultra-romantic El Lagarto, seafood pasta from the #1 local favourite, Casa Esmeralda, wood-grilled steak at El Colibri Steak House, Mexican, French, Mediterranean, sushi, French dining at the highly rated Samara Pacific Lodge, burgers at beach-front Vela Latina, traditional whole fried fish at beach-front El Ancla, or the wonderfully healthy creations at LuvBurger.
In the town center you will find several very good grocery stores, a fresh and very well-stocked produce store called Dona Lechuga, 2 ATMs, the very helpful people at Samara Info Center, several bakeries, a few excellent beach-front surf schools, a scuba dive shop, great souvenir and clothing boutiques, unique jewelry stores, a large and very popular organic grocery store/café/Farmer’s Market, 2 pharmacies, a Medical center, two Dentists, a Fitness center, Spa, Massage, etc.
Pura Vida - ENJOY!
