#### Location
Just a 5-minute walk from the villa is Praia Padre Vicente beach, a fairly rugged area with numerous caves and cliff paths to explore. For a typical sandy stretch, you'll want to walk about 15 minutes to Carvoeiro's main beach. It's backed by limestone cliffs, with calm waters gently lapping the sand - making the sea ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Many cafes and restaurants line the attractive promenade, so finding a delicious snack or meal to enjoy for lunch won't be difficult.
The centre of Carvoeiro is less than a 10-minute drive away from the villa and offers plenty of amenities, such as banks, a post office and a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and shops. Pretty whitewashed buildings perch on the top of cliffs above the beach and the iconic Alfanzina Lighthouse gives stunning views over the sea.
You can reach the city of Portimao in around 20 minutes by car. A traditional fishing village in origin, it's now a lively place to sightsee, shop and soak up the scenery. Most of the city's activity revolves around the riverfront and marina, with boat tours giving you the chance to spot dolphins that are known to appear not far from the coast. There are plenty of restaurants in this area, so take your pick for lunch or dinner. Shopaholics will love browsing the range of shops on offer in Portimao, with independent stores lining many streets in the city centre. For a dose of history, make your way up to Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao, a stunning 15th-century church. The architecture is breathtaking – as are the views over the town and surrounding area. Nearby are a handful of shops selling traditional items such as lace and ceramics.
