Description

Located in the sunny region of Malaga, this delightful villa, with its beautiful garden and multiple pools, is the ideal place to spend a relaxing break with all the family. Sat within a well-maintained walled garden, Villa Garbancito is traditionally constructed with a whitewashed exterior and terracotta tiled roof. A charming front terrace lined with flowerbeds and decorative pots leads to the porch-way and entrance. To one side of the door, there is a covered patio area with quirky furniture and a small breakfast table, inviting you to enjoy a coffee in the fresh air or simply sit beneath the shade and look out onto the terrace enclosed by tall pine trees. The rooms are arranged across one level, with exposed wooden beams and characterful furniture that create a homely atmosphere. Stepping through the front door to the living room, a large sofa and armchairs are arranged in front of the stone fireplace, creating a cosy area to curl up with a book or gather around the crackling flames during the winter months. There is also a small TV and DVD system positioned discreetly within the shelving, providing the perfect spot to switch off in front of a movie during the evening. Leading off the main living room is a charming internal courtyard with a brick and tiled floor and a central fountain sculpture. A large roof lantern floods the space with natural light, and an assortment of quirky objects brings cheerfulness to this intermediary space. There are three lovely bedrooms located off the main corridor. Exposed beams and unique furnishings make them inviting and homely, whilst air conditioning keeps the rooms cool during the hotter summer months. The master room is vibrant and well-lit, leading through an archway to an impressive ensuite with a dressing table and free-standing bathtub. There is a second bedroom with a double bed and a further room with two comfortable singles. The integrated kitchen and dining room are bright and spacious, with classical wooden cabinetry and marble countertops. Fitted with quality equipment, the kitchen offers everything that you may require to prepare meals throughout your stay, whilst a large dining table to one end has ample room to enjoy dinner with everyone. From here, there is direct access to the patio area and a substantial back garden. Shaded beneath the roof's considerable overhang, the patio offers an outdoor dining table to enjoy a morning coffee or lengthy lunch whilst looking out across the garden. Two wicker sun loungers and a sofa offer a more informal option to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine in comfort during the balmy summer nights. To the side of the house, you will find an additional outdoor dining area with an open-fire stove built out of the garden wall. With its secluded setting and rustic charm, it is the ideal place to grill some market-bought produce and gather around the impressive stone table to enjoy a light-hearted evening beneath the stars. A stone pathway leads down steps to a central terrace which wraps around a large outdoor pool. Planted pots are arranged along its perimeter, whilst a charming garden swing and a number of sun-loungers provide the ideal spot to sit back and soak up the sun. The 15m long pool is well-sized for doing lengths or simply taking a refreshing swim to escape the heat. A side section featuring Roman steps makes an easy entry point and gives the setting a classical elegance. A further garden area is found to the corner of the property, with a smaller pool and kids basin that is great for children to paddle in the shallow water, both being fenced. There is a gate and fencing that separates both of these pool areas, giving parents that added sense of safety whilst the young ones run around freely.

Set within the sunny region of Malaga, Villa Garbancito is a great base to explore the surrounding area. Slightly removed from the busier touristy coastal towns, the villa occupies a secluded spot at the foot of the Sierra de Mijas mountains close to the entrance of the Guadalhorce valley. Less than half an hour's walk takes you into the local town of Alhaurin de la Torre. With its agrarian history, the surrounding landscape is covered by olive groves and citrus fruit plantations, whilst the town centre is made up of tightly-huddled streets and old Moorish-style houses. Here you can find a number of local restaurants and bars, as well as several supermarkets. Take a stroll down the Calle Malaga and admire the colourful crochet canopy handmade by a group of local women to provide some shade during the summer months. Stop in the popular Plaza San Sebastián to admire the pretty church before heading to the popular Heladeria Valentino, where you will find delicious homemade ice cream with plenty of original flavours. To enjoy the golden sands and warm Mediterranean waters, the beaches of Torremolinos are a mere fifteen-minute car journey. With good public facilities and multiple companies offering a variety of water sports, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained. Alternatively, head south towards Benalmadena to the lesser-known Playa Las Viborillas. With slightly rougher sand and modest amenities, the beach is sheltered by huge palm fronds and offers a more secluded, laid-back setting to sunbathe or swim in the clear blue water. For a bite to eat, hop one bay down to the Restaurant El Parador. Founded almost 50 years ago, this perfectly positioned restaurant serves a variety of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine, offering traditional dishes alongside simple seafood and fresh fish. It is a great spot to stop and enjoy a relaxing lunch whilst looking out over the sea. As well as its impressive coastline, the Costa del Sol also is host to the splendid mountain range of Sierra de Mijas. Numerous hiking trails invite you to explore rocky terrain as you make your way up the wild landscape to various peaks to reach incredible views back towards the sea. The most popular trail is Pico de Mijas, a challenging yet rewarding route that ends with panoramic views across the coast from Malaga to Mijas, and on a clear day, you can even make out the coastline of North Africa. With an elevation of 745m, the hike requires a reasonable level of fitness. The start is found from Mijas Pueblo, a charming hilltop village just 35 minutes from the villa.
