The Old Mill eight-screen theater offers the latest films and PBS previews in air-conditioned comfort. Boutique shops line the streets and square, showcasing unique gifts, jewelry and clothing. Each evening features free live music and dancing entertainment from 5:00 to 9:00. Do plan to stop by to listen to the excellent local talent, and perhaps try a line dance or two! Look for the (not very) factual, but very funny Sumter history signs dotted around the streets! ...and please take time to walk the beautiful boardwalk to Lighthouse Point during an exquisite Florida sunset. This is a favorite Sumter photo opportunity. Recreation ("Rec") Centers are a second center of free activities and classes. You are a cart whisper from Laurel Manor Rec, beautifully themed as a lovely Southern home. You will find something for everyone, from aerobics to Zumba, swim sports to that Villages' obsession, pickle ball! Take your Temp ID to any rec and ask for your free copy of the Recreation News, detailing all the free activities and events available. You will be astounded at what is offered! If golf is your game, you are cart close to your neighboring Executive courses of Saddlebrook and Hawkes Bay. You are a short ride from the Polo Field, featuring competitive national and international matches. The well-loved Arnold Palmer Legends Country Club, with its Championship course, pro shop and excellent restaurants is a short cart jaunt away. Each property has either cable TV or satellite TV available for your enjoyment. With the Village Resident ID card you can use any of the 36 executive golf courses with no greens fees. These executive golf courses are not your typical "pitch and putts!" They present some challenging par 3s and the occasional par 4, with three sets of tee boxes to accommodate golfers of different skill levels. You will pay resident rates on greens fees at the 12 Championship courses. You are also entitled to use any of the family friendly and adult only (30 or older) swimming pools, organized activity swimming pools, bocce ball, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, billiards tables, tennis and pickle ball courts, basketball courts, sand volley ball and over 1,000 organized activities every week through the recreation centers.
