The house was completely renovated and refurbished in 2020 including a new fitted kitchen. Opening onto the dining area this is the hub of the cottage where you can spend time with family and friends over a home-cooked meal. Cairndarroch is on the edge of the picturesque conservation village of Moniaive in rural Dumfries and Galloway, surrounded by gently rolling hills and fields. Moniaive is home to a welcoming community that proudly hosts a wide variety of festivals and other activities every year, including its longstanding Flower Show in August. It was recently named as one of the coolest villages in Britain by The Times, and been featured on both Radio 4 and BBC’s One Show.
The village provides an array of facilities including two lively pubs, a well-stocked local store, beautician, a petrol station, charging points for electric cars and a popular Italian restaurant (book early – it’s a busy place!). There’s plenty to see and do further afield too, with stunning coast and forest walks, historic castles and beautiful beaches. The property is close to the Galloway Forest Park which is famed for its Dark Skies, and a visit to the stunning Drumlanrig Castle is a must. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
